At age 14, one morning, i was out of my Marlboro Lights 100's so I took one of my Dad's ciggies from an extra pack he kept in the kitchen drawer.
{Yes, I smoked on my walks to and from junior high school back then, 1980. Dealing with hearing loss, wearing a hearing aid was crazy stressful! Wearing a winter hat over that BTE (Behind The Ear) hearing aid dang near drove me crazy! 🤪 Eeeeeeee! Eeeee! Eee! Eee! Eeeeeeee! The stupid hearing aid would whistle from under the hat as I walked along Walnut Street. I'd tear the hat off in frustration, stuff it in my coat pocket, only to have the wind rushing into the hearing aid! Ugh! 🙄 Turn the hearing off, muffled traffic noise! Damn it! Hearing aid went into my purse, out came the ciggies & lighter! Nice nicotine silence.} 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
So on this morning, I was running late, in a hurry, didn't realize these ciggies in the kitchen draw were menthol!🟩 When I lit it up, around the corner from my folks home, I was shocked! It felt like I inhaled a wind tunnel of ice! 🥶🧊 Damn! 😱 I took another drag, still a shock. Tried a 3rd drag, nope, I had to crush it out on the ground. Gag 🤢 That's the last time I ever took a ciggie from the extra pack Dad left in the kitchen drawer. 😱 Gosh, how quick we silly humans learn from our kooky mistakes. 😂
