I’ll be 43 next month and while this is obviously a self-portrait of me and Bun Ra I wanted this to serve as a mother and child for “cat ladies” in general - for women who chose not to have children, or couldn’t. I also want to acknowledge women who did have children and sacrificed other dreams. One can’t do everything. This painting is about the paths not taken.
