Why had you run? 

Why couldn't you just accept that you were meant to be his?

He couldn't have this. 

He had Viola spy on you. You were frantically racing to the underground harbor, perhaps trying to board one of the ships that were due to leave soon. 

How could you want to leave him?

He could catch up with you quickly. You'd most likely chosen the underground harbor so he would take a while to get down there instead of just being able to string-fly through the air to land before you immediately. No matter. The ships had to leave the harbor and in doing so they would be out on the sea once more.

It was a bright, blue sky. You had surely chosen this day where so few clouds ornamented the sky so he would not be able to use them to fly. 

No matter. Your ship would be in the vicinity of Dressrosa's walls for long enough for him to catch up. 

How could you do this to him? 

He'd shown you nothing but kindness. 

You should have considered yourself lucky to be let into the young master's heart. 

To know the depths of his deepest fears, the past that he kept so carefully guarded, only sharing it with you after three full years of being together. 

Three years. And for what? For you to run from him. 

To abandon him. 

Betray him? Throw him in front of the Marines, just like his baby brother had? 

Was he really only ever doomed to lose everyone he loved? 

The wine bottle shatters with a loud sound as he smacks it against the wall with a force that would have cracked a human's skull with ease. 

His fingers tremble. His fingers that you'd taken such tedious care to massage. 

His hands that had hurt so much from the strain using his strings so much posed, coaxed into blissful relaxation once more by your own skillful ones. 

The pain that he had considered as part of his punishment, lightened so easily by you, as if though you were his very own saviour. 

His angel. How often had he called you that? He had believed it, too. 

But now you'd shown your true colours. You had fled from him. 

You would pay. His racing heart and throbbing head won't let him devise a clear plan in this moment, but you've got it coming. 

How could you leave him?

He thought you loved him. After so much hesitation, so many nights contemplating whether he should admit his weakness to you, he had finally confessed to you. 

It was all for nothing. Did he mean nothing to you? 

You hadn't said a word in advance. To increase your chances of success? You must have known there would be no escape. 

He didn't know what ships exactly were docked at the underground harbor. None should be able to sail out quickly, but if he'd taken precautions earlier Rosinante wouldn't have needed to die either. 

He casts a Birdcage, watching the strings fly up, spreading around all of Dressrosa. 

Some of his Elite Officers approach him, asking what's happening, but he doesn't even look at them. Viola remains by his side, ever-constantly giving him updates on your whereabouts. 

Now that the birdcage is cast, he will take his time. He won't rush. 

He hasn't rushed anything with you. 

He won't rush this either.
