Week 2 saw our group put together 3 marketing graphic templates for our partner organisations to use for social media posts. The 3 graphics that were made were a team line-up template to inform followers who had been selected for the upcoming match, a ‘player of the match’ graphic to highlight the outstanding work performed by a player in the weekends game and a ‘Game Day’ graphic to promote the upcoming game. The technical skills acquired whilst making these pieces were predominately graphic design skills alongside some marketing skills. Designing templates for the club to post requires the creator to think about what will catch the reader’s eye and what will generate the most consumer interaction.

The purpose of this form of media is simply to keep followers more engaged with the club and keep them informed on the status of the club. All 3 graphics are centred around the club’s match day and the results of the games, thus keeping followers informed on the performance of the club despite not attending the games. This aids a sporting organisation by maintaining fan engagement over the course of a season whilst increasing the likelihood that sponsors will jump on board as they will receive increased exposure due to the influx of posts (Carrillat & Grohs, 2019). If a sporting organisation doesn’t keep their fans updated regarding results, it can alienate fans and leave them feeling detached from the club leading to a decrease in follower engagement (Pradhan et al., 2019)
