Rare 1988 documentary about sampling from Australian TV!
Very cool piece of sampling history here. This 1988 documentary explores the ethical implications of sampling. Funny how this was made so long ago and this topic is still as heated as ever. My personal thoughts are if you take the sample and make it into something of your own, that’s no different than using a square wave on a synthesizer as your starting point of a synth patch. However, if you use an entire chorus or hook of a song and do nothing to it but slow it down, or just loop a 15 second unchanged clip over and over again, it’s theft.
