Season 2. McCoy suddenly decides to acquire a sleek and shiny Class-C shuttle, an Andorian girlfriend, and a vacation on Risa. Kirk and Spock are reluctant to confront their friend on his obvious crisis, but Scotty lets it slip after a few sips of Aldebaran Whiskey. After hearing this, Bones makes a more conscious effort to confide in his friends instead of material property... After he gets back from Risa of course.
The episode was cancelled due to budgetary restrictions. Concepts such as Risa were shelved for years to come.
