The variant of Dr Doom played by Robert Downey Jr. in Doomsday is rumored to be the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth-828. That could explain why the Latveria seat was empty in F4: First Steps when Sue was establishing the Future Foundation.
In Marvel's Blood Hunt #4 (2024), Strange and Clea traveled to Latveria to recruit Doom to help restore the sun. Strange voluntarily transferred the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme to Doom because only Doom possessed the knowledge needed to save the world.
BUT once the crisis ended, Doom refused to surrender the title. He argued that the world still wasn't truly saved, making himself both the ruler of Latveria and Earth's highest magical authority.
That philosophy fits shockingly well with what we've seen. What other mysteries will we discover leading up to Doomsday?!
