Years ago, I started a blog about Gulf War Syndrome or Illness. But now I would like to focus on my art. I am a disabled veteran. I deal with a lot of chronic pain and depression. Art saved my life. I was really wrapped up in focusing on the pain and complaining. When I stopped that behavior and began using my God-given talent, my life improved over time. Now I feel more useful and so much happier. I still have bad days, but they're never as bad as they used to be because I have my personal savior, Jesus, by my side, and he is helping me on this journey. If you have never tried making art, I strongly encourage you to give it a try. It is truly therapeutic. I hear from people all the time that say, "Oh, I could never do that. I can barely draw a stick figure!" I say that maybe you won't with that attitude, but you really have to just let your inhibitions go. Maybe your art is surreal, modern, naive, or abstract. Maybe over time it will get better.
I'm not saying you will automatically become an amazing artist overnight. I have been creating since I was a child. I also went to college for graphic design. I have read many books on things like color theory and fonts, and I really loved it. But I have seen people who told me they could never draw or paint become very successful artists. Besides, art is very objective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?
Well, this is me trying to say hello to anyuone who is reading. I hope to talk about art, writing and whatever else is on my mind realting to art. I also am a writer so I may spend some time on that. If you havfe any questions for me please feel free to mesage me. If you don't like my art or my blog feel free to say so. I will not condemn you for being honest. Its a quality I really respect. But pleae dont use profanity or political posts at all. Constructive criticism is fine though.
Thank you for liking my art! I will make short videos about colors and other fun things. You can see my art at daviddockery.com. Have a great day!
