After being endlessly entertained by Nate and Encino Man's ship name being Schwick, @alone-on-takodana hit upon the fact that Nate and Doc Bryan would potentially be Brick 🧱
We are at WORK. There was no good way of explaining why we were laughing like drains.
A/n: So uhm hi!!! First Gen Kill Fic.. to all of you who have requests sent in, I see them and I am slowly, but surely, working on them. I just needed to get this out and this is entirely self indulgent. I don't even have a masterlist for this fandom yet..
Also, this fandom is criminally underrated?? Like, insanely so. I think there's a max of 20 x reader fics for GK.
Everything started when you climbed out of your humvee, feeling a massive headache.
You stumbled a little, feeling disoriented while your world spun. One of your squad members inquired if everything was fine, which you assured it was. You were just dizzy and had a headache, nothing major that some ibuprofen wouldn't fix. You'd just go see Doc later.
From there it snowballed. Your whole body felt hot, but you were used to it. The uniforms you wore were big and bulky, no wonder they were hot.
But this was different, and you could sense it. Even if you didn't dwell on it much.
Another wave of nausea hit you, causing you to suddenly double over, vomiting on the ground.
A few soldiers nearby watched this unfold, and one of your team members approached, “are you alright?”
You nodded feebly, wiping your mouth and panting slightly. Slowly, you straightened yourself upright, facing your concerned squad member, “Yeah, I'm fine.”
After that, you walked away.
Only, you weren't fine. You made it only a few steps before your ears started ringing and everything began spinning. Your world tilted on its axis, and before you knew it, you were fainting, plummeting to the ground.
When you wake, your whole body aches. You groan, reluctantly peeling your eyes open.
Some object casts shade over you, which feels wonderful against your boiling skin. Though, you noted that you also felt oddly light. A quick check and you noticed you were free of your vest and accessories.
A wave of panic floods over you, prompting you to shoot upright.
“Woah!” Someone cries, pressing a firm hand against your chest and easing you back down, “You're fine! And, not so fast, Sergeant.”
A wave of nausea hits you, prompting a groan while you screw your eyes shut. When you open them again, you make eye contact with none other than Doc Bryan. His eyes reveal that he's unamused and what looks to be a bit of annoyance– typical. The Doc presses the back of his hand to your forehead, not letting anything show on his face if there is something wrong.
“You've caught heat stroke,” he says to you, averting his gaze to reach around on his belt until he finally frees his canteen. He unscrews the cap and slowly lowers it to your head, helping you sit up slightly. Tilting the canteen slightly, he lets you drink freely.
He lets you drink for a few more minutes, watching you in silence. “Sarg’, you ought to know better,” he chides once you've finished, sighing roughly and giving you a very pointed frown. “You’re too careless”
“Am I careless?" you asked, smirking slightly, "or do I just want an excuse to see you?"
Doc Bryan looks up at your words, his eyes, which had become slightly concerned narrowed to show his displeasure. Eventually, he sighs, “You don't need a reason to come see me.”
Humming, you nod a little, “even if I'm not injured?”
He nods, “Especially if that involves getting injured.”
You smile at him, and he smiles back. Now, your condition truly was an accident on your part, but for your sake and his, you'd really make an increased effort to stay out of any more accidents.
