I like drawing many different kinds of people.
I like drawing many different kinds of people. Their nationalities are all different, but I enjoy drawing everyone as beautiful and cool.
When I draw characters from different nationalities, I have one personal rule: I look at many photos from that country until I start to feel genuinely fascinated by the people there, and then I look for the features that make them wonderful. At the same time, I try to be careful not to fall into stereotypes.

I'm having the issue of deciding what characters (with their personalities and character arcs) will have what gender, sexuality and phenotypes. The amount of mental gym to avoid any problematic implications is huge. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Maybe is not a big deal if the cast is diverse enough and everyone is deeply flawed anyway.

to draw people from different countries
Hey there!
Lately, a lot of people have been encouraging me to “try drawing a wider variety of characters,” so I’ve been working hard to draw people from different countries. I’m hoping to expand even more from here.
But honestly, this was a huge culture shock for me. In Japan, we have a saying that’s similar to “Don’t ask for trouble,” and because I’m Japanese, I worried that I might accidentally offend someone. so I don't want to cause misunderstandings or get into any trouble.
But ever since I joined Tumblr, I’ve gotten so many messages saying, “Draw characters from other countries too!” So it felt like I finally had permission to try, and that’s why I’ve started drawing characters not Japanese.
If it’s okay for you to draw someone from your country too, just leave me a comment! I’d love to draw them someday.
