Just realised on the dive yesterday the guy just handed me his Β£1400 dive watch because I don't have my own and fully trusted me to do 2 dives with it and not loose it or break it... damn... that's one fancy ass dive watch right there... and a lot of trust...

60 years ago... Aquanaut talked to Astronauts ! NASA astronaut Scott Carpenter was the first to talk to astronauts in Low Earth Orbit while residing at the ocean floor in SeaLab II underwater habitat of the US Navy. During SeaLab, Carpenter tested the Rolex Submariner and the Rolex SeaDweller dive toolwatches, a privilege as a wrist watch fan as Carpenter had worn Accutron, Elgin and Breitling watches before. This 1965 photo shows Carpenter about to board SeaLab II. In 1968, Scott Carpenter meet French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, seen together during a showing of "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau" a documentary series that saw worldwide success. In 1969, Carpenter resigned from the US Navy with the rank of commander, after which he founded Sea Sciences, Inc., a company for developing oceanographic programs and improving environmental health.
