so I’m going back to the Midwest for four days in December (primarily for doctor’s appointments. wish I was joking) and I am not kidding when I say I have a list of restaurants and groceries that I’m excited for. I am going to eat my way through that city and cook like a maniac all four days I’m there. I cannot wait. I yearn for brussel sprouts and pozole like I have never yearned for anything. don’t worry extra cheddar goldfish. I am coming for you
Melt-in-Your-Mouth Sweet Potato

1 sweet potato
1/2 tbsp butter
flaky sea salt (optional)
cinnamon sugar (optional)
Preheat oven to 425 F. Rinse sweet potato and use a fork or knife to poke holes all over it. Wrap in a moist paper towel and microwave for 5 minutes. Then, wrap in aluminum foil and place on oven rack. Bake for 20-25 more minutes. Carefully remove from oven and unwrap. Beware of lingering hot foil and/or steam (ow). Place on plate and cut in half lengthwise. Spread butter on both sides. Optionally, but recommended, sprinkle sea salt on one half and cinnamon-sugar on the other. Season to taste. Enjoy! Serves 1-2, depending on appetite.

this may be in poor taste but while I am thinking about it: Haymitch's intro is literally him drawing attention away from Katniss by making a scene and falling off the reaping stage and then forgetting about it bc he was blackout - crafty, yes, but also... mayhaps.. drama queen behavior ? 🤔
You are spot on... But then again, you are always spot on when the (drama)king of your heart is concerned!!
I'm now imagining modern AU Haymitch at the Everlark wedding. Let's face it, there'll be problems.. But what would Haymitch's solutions be? Would he knock a well-meaning aunt's iPad out of her hands when she attempted to snap a picture at the wrong moment? Throw wine at Mrs. Mellark's off-white-but-definitely-white dress? Collapse on the dance floor and take out another loud-mouthed uncle with him?
And more importantly, would he accept blame when people told him whatever was going on at the moment wasn't nearly as bad as his crafty solution? 🧐

currently reading: just finished The Great Gatsby which I did not want to read but had to for The Great Test which I know I’ve probably failed (and I know this year was supposed to be a training run, but try to convince my brain of that)… I don’t really know what’s next reading wise, I feel like I need a break and prioritise other hobbies, I have my eyes on The Radium Girls by Kate Moore and The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck. Fanfic wise, I really enjoyed Ya’aburnee by @aliceinthinkland recently. And @districtfourmermaid’s Katharsis is on my To Read list…
currently watching: Lots of doomscrolling and YouTube lately, Loving Unofficial Partner and I are almost finished with season 4 of For All Mankind and have really enjoyed it so far… though this last season is maybe slightly less good… I really want to get started on The Pitt as well… some edits of The Rookie s08e10 have made me want to see that episode despite the fact I stopped watching after season 4…
currently craving: nothing, too tired for food but too wired from work for sleep… yet trying to eat a slice of lemon meringue pie in bed…
