Well, you’re looking at it friends: two hard cover bound copies of my dissertation! (Titled: Resacralizing Female Blood: Overcoming “the Myth of Menstrual Danger”)

They are lovingly adorned by a bouquet of spray roses (preferred flower of the goddess) and the Hindu goddess Saraswati (the goddess of creativity, including writing). 

And they couldn’t have come at a better time. I kept them on my desk-turned-altar all weekend while I took a class called: “How to turn your dissertation into a book” with the fabulous Dr. Elizabeth Nelson. 

I’m so excited (and terrified) to turn my dissertation into a book about empowering women and girls with new, positive menstrual narratives and that’s actually meant to be read by people other than my committee!

I know my dissertation topic is important and interesting, but it’s also incredibly depressing with how current it is. I read the sources and I sometimes wonder is this from 1797 or last thanksgiving after Uncle Danny had too many G&Ts?
