               utter disbelief -- he can’t quite believe this is happening. his eye darts between the popsicle and kisuke. how impressive, truly. ‘ o-oh! i think i’d like to buy at least a dozen, kisuke. ’

     ❝ This is not a very subtle attempt at poisoning me. ❞ If he was honest - he was rather surprised that Urahara wished to poison him. It was certainly something HE would consider doing to that man, but - he hadn’t expected it in return. Could it be that Urahara truly did think the ‘ health hazard ‘ would be minimal for him? No. Mayuri knew better than to trust anything that came out of that man’s mouth. He could not be trusted. At the same time... He WAS immune to all poisons, and he highly doubted that there was anything the other could do to him that he couldn’t simply fix. He really... Did enjoy sweets and chocolates. No! He wasn’t a test subject! If Urahara wanted someone to be his guinea pig he could get someone of less value! He tried not to think about --- Did Urahara truly think he had that little value? --- Don’t think about it. Don’t think about it. Mayuri had never been good at hiding his emotions ( unfortunately ), but his painted face did help cover some of his feelings up. He knew --- He knew he was not really valueable in the eyes of others. Those who didn’t understand WHAT HE DID FOR SCIENCE. However, he had always counted Urahara among those people who valued him, at least in some aspect. Had he been mistaken all this time? HE WAS OVERTHINKING THIS WASN’T HE!? For all he knew, this was some sort of joke! Leave it to Urahara to joke about poisoning him! Damn, he really could not stand that man! ❝ Try harder next time. ❞

                at first, he’s befuddled by the sudden arrival of a strange package. it’s not until he manages to scrutinize the note attached that he sighs ( seemingly ) relieved. the message itself is bemusing, so he doesn’t know what to make of it at first. he’ll shrug it off, happy with the gift he’s received. this time, he refuses to look into things further. he’ll take it as a nice gesture from kisuke’s part. clearly content, laughter soon resonates about the vacant barracks. he’s sure to return the gesture someday. ‘ ever so comical, kisuke. ’
