Disney World Guide Part 1
I am a huge Disney fan. Anyone who knows me itâs all about Disney, Harry Potter, and my dog. So where did I go for my honeymoon? Disney and Universal Studios.
So since my type A personality likes to plan, I dove into pintrest and the internet looking up stuff on how to have an amazing honeymoon at Disney. Do you know what I found? ONE ARTICLE!!!! Thatâs it. Everything else was centered around families. What about the mid-20 year oldâs that just love Disney? What about the nicer places to eat in Disney? What about the more adult things to do at Disney? Nothing, nada, zilch. So I decided I would add another to the articles out there about traveling to Disney when you are in your 20â˛s/ honeymoon, because I did both.
Iâll start with tickets. You should totally get a park hopper pass. Most people say it wasnât worth it, but to me it is. Why? Because that way you arenât stuck in one park. The fireworks donât go off every night in every park, so if you get a park hopper you can guarantee that youâll see the show without having to tie yourselves to the park that is showing the fireworks. Also if you are there for more than 3 days, we skipped some fireworks shows and rode rides because there were no lines. If you go when you are in your 20â˛s you can stay out later, so I recommend you go to the later of the fireworks shows. At Magic Kingdom sometimes Wishes has two shows with the electrical parade in between. We rode rides during the first show and then got seats for the Electrical Parade and watched Wishes were there werenât so many kids on shoulders to block our view.
Parks:
Magic Kingdom: for some reason when I read the family blogs all they talked about was what was good for little kids. Reading those, you might assume that Magic Kingdom will be filled with crying kids and long lines. ITâS NOT!!! Avoid the little kid rides and youâre ok. We rode all the mountains, especially Space Mountain, and were able to enjoy each otherâs company in line without kids asking how much longer.
Plan your fast passes accordingly. You are only able to have Three a day for one park. I recommend the three mountains. Disney hasnât updated their lines on the mountains, so waiting is really boring. You might think Snow White Mine Train is new so the line is really long, and youâre right it is, most of the day. Remember how I mentioned before about there being two fireworks shows? Just go ride the Mine Train during the first show along with Peter Panâs flight.
Also donât skip any of the traditional rides. We loved Jungle Cruise and how punny it was. We loved Dumbo and sitting close to one another. We counted the Jack Sparrows because we read that sometimes Johnny Depp likes to stand in on the Pirates of the Caribbean. We rode Haunted Mansion twice trying to spot the hidden Mickeys. We shot lazers at Zorg on Buzz Lightyearâs ride and we kept singing âitâs great big beautiful tomorrowâ after riding the Carousel of Progress.
Fun Fact about the Haunted Mansion. The room where you see seven wedding dresses actually has a story. One woman married all the guys for their money and then killed them, but she remembers them by wearing a pearl necklace, in her last wedding picture she is wearing six!
Food here for adults is hard to find, as far as a sit down restaurant. Crystal Palace is full of Winnie the Pooh, good luck with Cinderellaâs Royal Table, and Plaza Restaurant didnât seem appealing. We ate at Tonyâs which is themed around Lady and the Tramp and we liked that because itâs right by the front entrance and you can people watch.Â
You also have the Be Our Guest Restaurant, but I wasnât able to get reservations. You are allowed to put your name down on a list for dinner, but itâs not worth it. We waited a hour and half and our name was never called. But we did find out some useful information. If you go straight to the restaurant as soon as the park opens, there is a guy with a clipboard of all the people that canceled reservations before the day. You might be able to get a table like that if you donât reserve it 180 days in advance.
Anyways, in Magic Kingdom we didnât eat at any sit down restaurant because like I said itâs slim pickings. I do wish we had done the desert and fireworks. They started doing desert in Tomorrowland terrace which you can have an excellent view of the fireworks. I recommend trying to do this so you donât have to deal with crowds, people putting their kids on top of their shoulders, or peopleâs cameras getting in the way. If not, we watched from outside the reserved area and still had a great view away from the crowds.
The parades. I realized that when you donât have kids, you can get great seats for the parade! They start roping it off with 30 minutes to go, but we got our seats a hour beforehand. We got ourselves a pineapple dole whip and sat down on a curb. Since we were in the front, there were little kids who couldnât see. We let them stand in front of us since we could easily see over their heads. This was a great idea since the walking characters interact with the kids and I was able to get great pictures!!
This is my Magic Kingdom Post, more to come about the other parks.
