7, 12, 21 for the VS. meme? Your novel's characters. :D
7.)Ā āSleep is for the weakā vs.Ā āSleep for a weekā
Sleep is for the weak: David Black, the old holy warrior guy with the ptsd-inspired hyper-vigilance on top of literally heightened senses. Poor guy has a very hard time relaxing. Honorable mention goes to his niece, the protagonist, Verity Black. She doesnāt have his heightened senses or ptsd (yet!) but is a bit type-A.
Sleep for a week: Varian Ironcrow the deuteragonist and love interest, probably, though not of his own volition. (he does keep on getting his ass kicked)
12.) Brainiest vs Brawniest
Brainiest: In terms of applied mechanical/electrical/mathematical smarts, Yasamin Alkurah the half-human half-kydoni (sort of tiefling-elves, kinda) not-quite-mad-but-not-exactly-sane inventor. In terms of natural quick-thinking and organizational/leadership type smarts, Verity Black.
Brawniest: In terms of raw physical might, probably Dumaka Thorne- he is enormous, strong for his size, AND can magically boost his strength. Then he becomes sorta-kinda undead, and gets even stronger. In terms of all-around hand-to-hand skill, probably Makara, a holy woman who spent a good part of her life as a kung-fu crime syndicate boss. In terms ofĀ āmost potent magic abilitiesā itās gotta be Amyrinth Lafuerza (who becomes the antagonist).
21.) Most Religious vs Most Atheistic
Most Religious: Biggest zealot is Dumaka Thorne. Thoroughly BELIEVES that his doomsday cult is the ONLY path forward, working the will of Heaven. Not a shred of doubt. Best embodiment of their faith is Makara, who rejects all the dogma and interpretation for a direct implementation of what she sees as the fundamental commandment to lift one another up.
Most Atheistic: Yasamin Alkurah. In a setting where the holy orders have literal magic powers itās hard to be an atheist, but Alkurah insists that sinceĀ āmagicā has comprehensible, rational rules, itās just another kind of science and doesnāt depend on any divine impetus. Natural phenomenon.
