January Run Club week 2
How do you make yourself run when you donāt want to?
I have RULES.
If I have a regular 8-hour shift, and no doctor appointment or meeting after work, I go to the gym.
If itās my day off and I have errands to run, I keep a packed gym bag in my car and go to the gym if I have an hour to use.
If J goes to the gym in the morning and I have nowhere else to be, I go to the gym.
If I am sick or injured, I take a rest day.
If I literally do not have one hour of free time to use, I take a rest day.
If Iāve worked out for five days in a row, I take a rest day.
That said, there are workout days when I just donāt want to go. Ā This is especially common in the winter, because I have go to the gym instead of running outside. Ā I tell myself:
It is run day. Ā That is the rule, and nothing will change it. Ā The rules I make for myself make things easy because thereās no negotiating involved.
Iāll feel better after I run.
Iāll probably feel better during my run.
Iāll get to listen to good music. I donāt listen to my running playlist when Iām just screwing around at home.
Iāll use bribery! Ā If I run, I can play Stardew Valley (or Pokemon, or whatever other game Iām obsessed with) when I get home.
