Moonstone's husbun, Latté, came up for a quick visit to see if she's ok and she's doing great. After some grooming, Moonstone was very refreshed and we spent the day chatting about our goals. She had a very therapeutic day which is always mutually beneficial for rabbits and hoomins. Tomorrow will be another busy day at the Sanctuary and everyone is feeling the excitement of Fall weather. Wild birds are teaching the first winter chicks about where to look for dinner. Hay hay hay! All you #InstaGraham fans! Haven't forgotten about Mr. Axl Nose, have you? Graham the venerable minilop gentleman hasn't seen you much because we were trying not to move him around too much so his broken leg could heal, for lack of a better word since it's not really all better, it's just how it's going to be henceforth. Great news! Graham's long time eye discharge, which cleared up with pain management and is still gone! His eyes look great except for dirty fur around one eye thanks to his neighbor, Orion, who is still sprinkling eau d'Orion here and there which gooped up Graham's fur a bit. Graham's ears were also pretty clear! He still had one small glob of wax pretty much unchanged though so his ears were cleaned and he was SO good! He appreciated it plus his eye fur miniwash. He did not seem uncomfortable with his gimpy leg at all! He's been hopping around a lot in his pool! So he will remain on pain meds for the rest of his life, like most old folks! It was so good to see my rock star buddy! Hooray for Graham! He made me SO happy! He's a tough & happy old rabbit dude! We have babies in the house! Here are the splay brothers Ash (solid grey) and the speckled Speckles! How auspicious that we were all watching Star Trek Voyager and heard the word ‘speckled’ said in the show just as we hoomins bemoaned this baby’s name given him by his hoomin bunny foster mama! Mama hoomin thought ‘hmm I’ve never heard that word used before and now this Speckles fella is here!’ The brothers were ‘tutored’ yesterday and will be available for adoption in two weeks! Little Moonstone Tinselwhiskers has once again proven that she is a super woman. Our little broken legged nut who also broke all her toes, had to come upstairs and spend a month and a half in a specially set up carrier. She’d gotten a messy cecal butt which resulted in some fur loss and urine scald. Cleaning required painstaking fur trimming and left one of her hips bald. But the fur is all grown back and now she’s back with her beloved husbun, Latté, but in a smaller pool so she can gain her strength back slowly without burning too many calories. They are next to Beatrix Jolene who apparently “had a thing going on” with Latté. So Moonstone is now policing Latté when he’s on the side near Jolene (you can see Jolene’s eyes behind Moonstone). I recorded the little soap opera when Moonstone first went back in with Latté. So hilarious! Teddy spent the day in the hospital after being found unable to stand or sit up. He was roused back to a wobbly sit, assist fed the Queen's porridge, a whopping 75cc's of it. After fluids at the vet as well as radiology and blood work, he's back home and sitting and standing. He's eating greens on his own but still visibly wobbly. The doc suspects thymoma but wants to do echo. Palliative care will be given pending treatment plan. Papa hoomin saved his life getting him down there in the bunny limo. The seriously smooth ride in a land yacht certainly make a bun feel relaxed about an automobile trip which so many buns suffer with bumpy rides.
