Being young and disabled is having the bus driver tell you to move out of priority seating (not even disabled specific) bc you didn't bring a mobility aid that day
Disabled people are only “believable” once someone without our struggles decides our pain is real enough to echo. We’re only visible when someone more palatable repeats our words. Until then? We're treated as inconvenient, dramatic, or just not trying hard enough.
You don’t get to call a space inclusive when it only starts listening once an abled voice speaks. That’s not allyship. That’s erasure.
Band spaces aren’t truly safe for disabled people - not until someone without those struggles barges in, speaks over them, and decides how accessibility should be handled.
Because it’s never about listening. It’s about control.
I love being disabled; I get shamed by my mom (who works in disability education, and is disabled herself) because I don’t have the physical and mental energy because I’m taking harder classes to please her. I said goodbye to my own educational dreams for hers.
She’s a disability supporter until it’s an inconvenience to her.

Bit of a rant post.
My period has been causing a bad flare up of symptoms and it just sucks sometimes being reminded that you’re disabled.
One day hopefully I will convince the doctors to take my uterus out (I hate dealing with the doctors so much it takes all my energy!) and my symptoms will hopefully level out more with a more stable hormone cycle.
On a side note my partner sees me deal with this and was saying how he just can’t understand how I manage to deal with it. My response was that most of the time I don’t manage and it is awful and it sucks. Which lead to a conversation on different hormone cycles which I think low key horrified him xD

Kids moving, pushing, or tripping over my mobility aid at lunch because it’s in the way is like pushing a person because they’re in the way. It’s metal, sure, it’s not alive, sure, but it’s connected to me, it’s a part of me.
They probably wouldn’t push another kid standing there, so what’s different about my mobility aid?
