You can't pride yourself on being "pro Disabled" and not have any actual interest in Disabled theory or liberation.
Can I be controversial for a minute?
I’m sick of this assumption I see everywhere that ALL able-bodied ND people hold privilege over ALL physically disabled NT people. Mental illness isn’t just “mild” autism or ADHD or depression or anxiety. Are you really saying that schizophrenia and bipolar and BPD and NPD and ASPD and severe intellectual disability are “easy” to handle? C’mon.
And don’t even get me started on the fucking historical revisionism I see everywhere. Crip theory HAS been inclusive of neurodisabilities. For a long time. Regardless of your opinion on who can reclaim which slurs (and I personally do agree that the full c-word is mostly aimed at those with mobility disabilities and ppl without them should think twice before using it), you need to stop pretending that it isn’t.

We disabled people have always shaped the world around us, and our fingerprints on every aspect of life cannot be removed. To remove our presence and influence on American culture is to remove American culture. It would be a totally different world without us, as it would be without any other minority community.

Gleeson wrote a book about how feudalism and industrial cities sucked for the impaired, and how modern cities still treat them like crap through bad design and NIMBYism. Basically, we need to stop designing cities that actively exclude people.
