My submission for the Dirty Smith Zombie Apocalypse Weapon challenge.  Hand-forged out of some leaf-spring, handle is red oak.  Most modern piece of equipment used was a 2x72 belt grinder.  This challenged my skills as a blacksmith with this being one of the largest blades I’ve ever made, as well as a new handle technique.  Learned a lot and had lots of fun. @dirtysmith

We've been together for 14 years. 14 years of ups, downs, turnarounds, and bliss. It's a real pleasure to be married to your best friend. The first time I laid eyes on Rory, was back in College, on my very first day. He walked into the Statistics classroom, and my world forever changed. • • • 🎉 Rory is a very talented, ornamental blacksmith. I'll be honest, when we first met, I thought he was a mechanic. In my defense, his nails were always dirty, and I assumed the grit was from working on vehicles. What I knew of a blacksmith, at the time, relied heavily on movie narratives, like Robin Hood, Underworld, and Man in the Iron Mask. Over the years, Rory and I have become very close and see the world much the same. We both LOVE creativity, working with our hands and discussing life. • • • 🎉 Rory has such a BIG heart and works tirelessly at his metalworking job, shooting YouTube tutorials for hobby smiths and still finds time to do more! He is always analyzing how he can become a better Maker and never stops honing his skills or searching for communities to belong too. Wrapped up the @dirtysmith #blacksmithingclass learning how to do a pineapple twist. Probably my favorite thing I learned , at least as far as how cool it looks.
