Confessions of a Director: The Office Gossip (and Surviving Budget Approval)
As a Director, I've learned there are three versions of every budget:
The actual budget. The budget employees think exists. The budget the office gossip creates.
The third one is always more interesting.
So if you hear a rumor that we're hiring AI workers to operate equipment, write reports, approve budgets, attend meetings, and replace management...
Please know that's ridiculous.
The AI took one look at our budget meetings and declined the position.
And after years of investigation, I've finally narrowed down the source of most office rumors.
But I have a strong suspicion that my right-hand person knows everything happening in this organization approximately three days before it actually happens.
In fact, if I ever decide to launch an official investigation into the office gossip...
I'm probably going to have to assign it to them.
Which is unfortunate.
Because there's at least a 75% chance they're the office gossip.
