ā i saw you do that, you know. ā from @dioica !
the ocean was , as ocean is , wide and vast and beautiful. the seamist leaving a salty glow , sun-kissed skin shimmering in the sun. northern wood and eastern sails , the dragon rider he was aboard was much larger than his own raiding ship , harvest was much lighter and faster but somehow --- less majestic. the task of building and executing the feat of them had not come easily , the coin that the islands had to front before being paid by the crown as hefty. and the blonde harlaw wasn't about to simply allow the ship to be unattended until the fine was paid in full... so maybe he had taken a few liberties aboard while they waited. it wasn't as if the ships were uncaptained but the main landers weren't quite the same when it came to their ships. didn't have that special connection that should have come with them. so he figured , they wouldn't quite mind if the young harlaw claimed it as his own. figured he might as well lend a ship his luck.
the wood at the base of the wheel chipped away quite easily at the careful angle of his dagger. the scythe , as always , a very simple tool to etch despite the knight never having seen one in person his entire life... the fiddling had quite taken up the majority of his attention. easily whisked up in a task like some sort of hyperfixated mind-melted seagul. which would explain as his attention was swiftly swept away by a new current crashing into idling thought just as he's finishing the little design. the voice startles him , it's new and foreign and pointedly not ironborn. their accents were harsh and quite distinctive , but this one... didn't belong to one of them. he didn't know , so instead , figures he'll play it safe.
Ā« m'lady , Ā» the words come out slow , intentional , as if his words are struggling to keep up with his brain as he tries to explain the history of why this was tradition , or maybe that he had been instrumental in getting this ship made , or that he was supposed to be here.. guarding the ship... until payment was due... instead none of those come out , instead , a book seems to fall out of place in the back of the library that filled his head and the words spoken feel like they're lifted from a page he's never read. Ā« what do you think you saw. Ā» not guilty until proven so , or so his cousin says.
dying a warriors death OR dying in the stead of a beloved family member?
make my muse choose . . .
THERE ARE BUT TWO FAMILY MEMBERS LEFT THAT HE LOVES . . .
Asha would wish a warriorās death for herself and though it would leave him heartbroken, he couldnāt deny his beloved little sister the honor of one day telling her stories of heroism at the Drowned Godās table . Alannys , his equally beloved mother , knows nothing but suffering since losing her sons and , simultaneously , her mind ; wandering around Harlaw , calling for her children like a ghost in the night is barely a life and more often than not , Maron catches himself thinking that death may be a kindness for her . again , it is peace he wouldnāt wish to take from her .
so instead , heād much rather die heroically on the battlefield ; making sure heāll take as many enemies with him as he can before eventually passing over into the halls of his god .

allspice
A common misconception is that allspice is a blend of other spices. It is actually a unique spice, also known as the jamaica pepper, myrtle pepper, pimenta or pimento. It is derived from the tropical evergreen tree Pimenta dioica, and native to the Carribean and wider Central America.
Allspice is the dried, unripe berry of the tree, and resembles a large, smooth, brown peppercorn. The leaves of the dioica are equally aromatic, and in a pinch, can be used like a bay leaf in cooking.
It is extremely aromatic with a warm, strong and somewhat spicy flavour profile and resembles a blend of nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper.
Interestingly and unlike most other spices, Allspice becomes less intense and pungent when ground. This is because many of the essential oils that make up the aroma of allspice evaporate when exposed to air. It's best to store allspice whole, and grind only immediately before use.
Allspice is a core component of jerk seasoning in Jamaican and Carribean cuisine. It is also a popular spice for stews and curries in English and Middle Eastern dishes.
Colombus encountered two other spices in his quest to find peppercorns: chilli and allspice, both of which he erroneously dubbed pimenta or pepper. When it was exported to Europe in 1601, the name āallspiceā was coined by the English because the flavour resembled that of a blend of many other spices, including: cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, juniper, and clove. It was used historically to cure different ailments and illnesses including diarrhoea and menstrual cramps.
Allspice is rich in niacin, riboflavin, thiamine, vitamins A and C, and has anti-inflammatory and anti-flatulent properties. It can alleviate gastrointestinal ailements, including stomach-ache, diarrhoea, but also conditions such as fatigue and the flu.
You can incorporate allspice in stews, curries, sauces, pickled vegetables, and breads and cookies. It pairs well with: other warm spices likeĀ ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and cumin; fall ingredients like sweet potatoes and squash, and fruits especially apples and apricots.
Magical properties: Allspice is a masculine, fire-scent; ruled by Mars. It is linked to determination, money, luck and healing. Methods of use: burn in incense, infuse in tea or wine to soothe the stomach and aid digestion, or add into a tonic or poultice.

These take a long time to do, but I'm grateful every time I get to make one, for many reasons. One being that I get to be up close and personal with the intricacies of the leaf margins. Nerd alert. @dioica ā glad to see you havenāt become food for the vultures. ā
a huff of laughter at the dragonriders words. perhaps she did not carry targaryen blood, but her presence was familiar enough within the dragonpit that the winged beasts of legend largely left her alone. today had been the first time elysa had ventured down without the queen, sent with instructions for the dragonkeepers. ā your concerns warm the heart netheera. ā
skipping up the last few steps, elysa came to rest before the other girl. pale silks in stark contrast with netty's more sensible leathers. a mirror in contrasts they must make, yet elysa had been overjoyed when the girl had joined them in king's landing, glad for another her own age. ā are you heading down to visit with vermigon? ā the dragons had always fascinated her. especially those who'd kept to the wilds for so long.
IN DEPTH HEADCANONS; ACCEPTINGĀ @dioica askedĀ ā Which of their five senses are the strongest? For example, are they usually the first person to smell something rotten? Are they the first person to see something across the street? Etc. ā
Sight is definitely her strongest sense! She has a keen eye for detail, especially in appraising quality. Noticing minute stitches in a garment or the slightest hint of rot in a fruit. She can pick up on small signs of quality or good craftsmanship.
Sheās also fairly observant in peopleās body language and emotional cues. Part of learning the social graces expected of a lady is to be able to note peoples reactions and act accordingly. While she sometimes struggles with the social interactions, being observant is something that comes naturally to her. She notices much more than people would give her credit for.
