𓄯 The Parasaurolophus was a large, plant eating hadrosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 76-73 million years ago, in what is now North America. It weighed roughly 2-4 tons (5k-9k lbs) and walked primarily on two legs, though it could move on all fours while feeding. Its diet consisted of tough vegetation such as conifer needles, twigs, leaves, seeds, and possibly aquatic plants growing along rivers and floodplains; its tightly packed, grinding teeth were perfect for breaking down fibrous plants that many other dinosaurs couldn’t digest well.

𓄯 Fun fact: Studies suggest that the Parasaur may have been able to hear very low frequency sounds, meaning its calls could travel long distances across its habitat.

𓄯 The Parasaur lived in lush, low lying environments like river valleys, coastal plains, and forests, where food and water were abundant and herds could migrate seasonally. Its most famous feature; the long, backward curving hollow crest,was likely used for communication, producing deep, resonant sounds, as well as for species recognition and display.
