I semi figured out what I wanted to do with Sirica’s unicorn form, while also connecting her lore to the dimension mirror 🤭🪞

These descriptions below are rough drafts on what I got so far (it’s still not done, as I am trying to figure out how Garlude controls her powers, or how Sirica becomes a unicorn, but I’d say that this is a good start)

Plus some extra sketches (including a render of Mirror Guardian Rona herself)

I've been pondering this on and off for a while now, and today I'd like to take a second to lay down some of those thoughts in public. I have a couple versions of Bobbin with different names that reflect different ways her life could have gone. So, let's lay them down.

Bobbin (the original) - Our baseline. Born from handiwork of Spinstra and Fiyarno, this Bobbin spent most of her life hidden away in the Dark Manor. She was constantly dealing with Yin Yarn trying to recruit her for evil schemes, him draining her magic to empower himself, and constantly degrading her. That is, until she finally snapped and rescued herself, running away to Dreamland to find a hero. In the end, she found friendship with the residents of Cappy Town, an ally and partner in action with Prince Fluff, and a hero in herself. She's since gone on to learn everything she can about magic to buff her skills. With some luck and a lot of work, she's bound to one day be the greatest mage from Patchland.

But what if that hadn't happened?

Fraya (Bad End Bobbin) - If she hadn't succeeded in breaking out of Yin Yarn's grasp, it would have been bad. Fraya is a Bobbin that tried to defy him and failed, losing her chance at friendship as he regained his lost power and became a threat once more. Fraya would go on to join her cousin, Button, in serving Yin Yarn for the rest of his days, being used as a weapon to take out his enemies. She learns much darker forms of magic here: draining spells, inflicting nightmares, puppeteering and mind influence, etc. She helped him to conquer many worlds, wishing more than anything for someone to stop him.

Her only saving grace comes many years down the line, when as an adult, she ends up trapped in the Forgotten Land, befriending Elfilin. But- when he is stripped from her side to reform Elfilis, she finds herself swayed to make a drastic choice. She pledges her loyalty to Fecto Elfilis, becomes their warlock, and proceeds to take down Yin Yarn, at long last. Little does she know that she's traded one brand of hatred for another.

Tangle (Nightmare's Granddaughter) - Let's go back further. What if Spinstra had failed to protect her daughter from the king of all nightmares? Yes, if Spinstra had died after Bobbin's creation, and Nightmare found her, he would delight in the irony of twisting her purpose. The weapon meant to save Patchland from him? Let's turn her into something meant to hurt all that were counting on her. He names her Tangle, a tribute to Spinstra's original name of Mangle that's still in line with the yarn theme. Tangle is fitted to a spidery mech to mimic the bodies of other Weaverbeasts within his ranks. She is fed so many lies about how her mother was his great warrior, and she's determined to live up to that greatness too. He sends her out much like Bowser would Bowser Jr., to cause chaos in Cappy Town amongst his monsters of the week.

Tangle is a menace, tangling with the likes of Kirby, Tiff, and Tuff regularly. It isn't until Tiff and Knuckle Joe start to peel back her layers that they realize, she's really just a kid in a bad circumstance. They steadily find ways to befriend her and get her to turn on Nightmare, helping her find out the truth about Spinstra. By the end of the anime's run, Tangle has found herself a new home amongst good friends.

Blossom (Raised in Floralia) - This is an interesting one. What if Spinstra hadn't been sent to Patchland to drain it of its magic? You could put her on any planet, and it'd be interesting. In this instance, she ends up on Floralia and fused with the seed of the dream flower. We'll call her Nightshade for this realm, as she doesn't have any yarn sorcerers to name her Spinstra. The queen of Floralia takes pity on her when she's found, and Nightshade is ordered to care for the flower that's now a part of her, and to serve the crown. With permission from the royal family, Nightshade starts on a project that results in her daughter, Blossom, a sweet little arachnid with flowers in her hair. Much like her mother,

Blossom is full of magic potential, and thus, she attends a magic academy to train her abilities. She ends up as classmates with a teenaged Taranza and Joronia, and the three are very good friends. She and Taranza have something of a rivalry, trying to outdo each other so that they will be chosen as the next royal mage to serve the crown. Taranza wants it to prove that a spider like him is worthy of such a post. Blossom wants it because she desires a status that can get better conditions for her mother. Either way, they agree to help each other as much as they can.

But tragedy strikes around the time of their mastery exams. In a particularly brutal Demonbeast attack, Blossom is faced with the menacing monster, Parallax, who damages her magic well so greatly, that her ability to cast is severely inhibited. Taranza gets the job, and she is left behind. She spends most of her life bitter and alone, switching her focus to potion making and tonics so she can at least do something useful. She falls out of touch with Taranza, and when Sectonia takes the throne, she doesn't realize just how bad things are at the palace. She's a full on adult by the time Kirby comes to save them, and she regrets not helping sooner. Joronia is lost, and she wishes so badly she could've prevented it. She is there to comfort Taranza in his hour of need, and a friendship is slowly rekindled.

Spindle (Mirror World) - All who gaze into the Dimension Mirror give life to that of a mirror counterpart: a being that reflects some of the best and worst you can think about yourself. Bobbin has not yet looked into the mirror, but if she did at this point in time, her greatest fear would plague her reflection's existence: "would I be useless without my magic?" That's right, Spindle is a Bobbin that has almost no magic to call her own. She can barely float, which leaves her to get around in a wheelchair or with other mobility aids more often than not.

At first, Spindle begrudges her lack of magic. She struggles to get around, she doesn't have anyone looking out for her, save for, Knuckle Joe's reflection (who I have yet to name). He's just as brash and bold as his counterpart, picking fights with monsters and winning more often than not. Spindle is immediately drawn to his charisma and begs him to teach her to fight like that. The two of them make for an amazing pair of monster hunters, and thus, prove that Spindle doesn't need magic to be successful. She has incredible wit, good intuition, and great observation of her surroundings. She's a bit rough around the edges, sometimes a bit cold, but she's also kind and looks out for her companion often. They're lucky to have each other.

Reflecto Knight (formerly known as "Dark Meta Knight") is the protector of Mirror Land in Planet Dimensionworld, which is located above the skies of Planet Popstar. He was once corrupted by Dark Mind, but Kirby could stop him. He later decided to be the protector of his planet which led to a lot of misunderstandings. Everyone thought he was evil but he was just trying to protect his home.
