Today, August 10th marks 14 years since I posted the first chapter of DXW: Conquering the Flame back in 2012 on FF/dA. After much deliberation, I finally decided on the 4th fan art to commemorate the completion of the story.
A scene from the end of Chapter 43. Examon arrives at the flooded ruins of Bagramon's Castle to confront DarkKnightmon. He has taken on his strongest form in the shape of BasiliskKnightmon, a DigiXros involving him and his trusted subordinate, MaloMyotismon.
In BasiliskKnightmon's possession are the final pieces to his plan.
Full of rage and regret after failing to protect Dorbickmon and his partner, Examon takes it upon himself to mount one more offensive to stop DarkKnightmon.
No more standing by and being a mentor. This time, it's all or nothing and it's personal.

This one was, without a doubt, one of the most challenging pieces I've drawn. From every detail of Examon's design, backgrounds always being a weakness of mine, to having to draw out an entire digifake from a single paragraph description, I'm super happy with the end result and that I was able to finish it on time.
When I think of this scene, I find this ost to be quite fitting for the tone.
