hey it's benny! this question suddenly popped into my head: is there a particular reason why (original) lucian didn't reincarnate? i'm still a bit unsure how remnant affects reincarnation, but does lucian not have it/not have enough? did him getting bodysnatched affect it? if lucian Did manage to reincarnate despite everything, what would everyone think? (personally i would either be freaked out or slightly annoyed... why's there so many of him??)
That's a very tricky question because, technically, 'original' Lucian was consumed by Elder Afton's Remnant. There's nothing there to reincarnate.
There's two 'copies' of Lucian's soul out there; Master File, who claims to be the purest and most perfect version of Lucian, and Digital Lucian, who is accepted by Meera and FuriRosa as the legitimate Lucian and was offered the chance to reincarnate with wiped memories but refused it.
Both of them are missing a sizable portion of Remnant because not all of it was properly digitized by Elder Afton, so reincarnation would be incomplete if carried out. Look at what happened with Sydney, with fragments of memories and carrying the guilt of a past he can't fully remember.
If Digi had accepted the deal to reincarnate the way BellaRosa wanted, his memories would be fully wiped, basically giving him a clean slate in a new life. This would probably be annoying to Vincent and a few others but it could also be a relief; a way of being rid of a former killer without 'killing' him. Bella's Remnant would essentially erase those memories from the soul, leaving blank Remnant in its place. It'd be a similar process to what Elizabeth tried to do to Vanessa and Gregory to make them easier for Emelia and William Afton to replace.
