I thought it was a disaster. The show clearly had no clear idea of what it wanted other than to be a darker, edgier sequel to Adventure & Zero Two.

LIke I respect Kakihara Yuko from stuff like The Aquatope on White Sand, but it honestly felt like she got fucking steamrolled by essentially memos from Toei and Bandai on what to do with the show and those things CONFLICTED enormously.

The show is trying to satisfy everyone and no one.

It has no clue what to do with the Mysterious Man looking like Ken/Gennai.

Yggdrasil feels like a goddamn shoe horn (I like the anime generally NOT being connected to Yggdrasil, and it feels gross to have in Adventue).

It brings up the Dark Ocean without using it for anything meaningful.

The Dark Masters were a pretty shallow return.

All of the character arcs and the amnesia stuff felt like Forced Drama.

The Meikoomon being the final boss honestly is written in a likely unintended "The neurodivergent people in your life should be euthanized and treated as 'too pure for this cruel world'.".

Like, the set up of mentioning the Demiurge and what not is an incredibly cool set up that goes. No. Where. The show has no clue what it wants, other than to be grimdark angst.

The only good thing about it is it somehow rebooted the franchise as without it we wouldn't have had Adventure:, Ghost Game, Seekers, Liberator, the card game, Digital World Shambala and the upcoming Beat Break and likely Survive and Time Stranger.
