( SEVYN GRAVES ): I DON'T LIKE THIS PLACE. THE DARKNESS, AND THE NOISES, AND THE AWFUL FEELINGS I GET. it's different, now, somehow. forgotten and desolate. not just lonely, like it used to be. there days when their childhood home would even be considered warm, but not today. not anymore. the thing that silas fears the most is not the house itself, the state of it, but that he feels as if he's dreamed about it this way, before. empty, bare walls, dusty banisters, not abandoned, but as if it were never lived in, at all. as much as silas had felt this way when he was a child - that their house was void of love, sometimes, vacant even though a whole family lived there - this was real. his mother was gone, and there was nothing left to even prove that she had ever existed. silas instinctively reached out an arm, pulling his niece close to his side, both to comfort her, and himself. ' don't wander off, ' he murmurs, afraid that if he talked too loud, the whole house would come crumbling down around them. ' i don't understand what's happening, but we'll figure it out. just... stay close, ' @diggsgraves.
marriage. love. things his parents had ( or at least, silas had thought they had them ) that silas thought he may never obtain. there was a long time between 13 and 30 when he thought he may be alone forever, and deserved to be. flings and short term relationships got him through those years, as did bars and their endless supply of what he used to call adult medicine. though there was no intention of meeting jasper, silas could, without a doubt, say that they had met for a reason. they were soulmates, connected by a string, finally meeting in the middle at a tavern they now called theirs. jasper had been the only one who could slow him down, show him that commitment wasn't a death sentence. they didn't get engaged for three years into their relationship, and weren't married until a year after that. now they're happy. silas is happy - another thing he wasn't sure he'd ever achieve. but jasper seemed to shed some light on all the darkness inside of him. gazing at the other man now, silas lowers his glass of wine and leans over the kitchen island to kiss his husband, lingering and gentle, pulling away with an upturned corner of his lips, silas continuing to cut the vegetables for dinner afterward. ' i would ask why you're not helping me make dinner, but then i wouldn't be able to just look at you sitting over there, ' voice is low as silas teases. ' so if you don't mind, just continue with what you're doing, ' @diggsgraves.
( SCARLET GRAVES: ) WERE YOU AWAKE ALL NIGHT? she asks this as if she doesn't already know the answer to her own question. as if she simply ignores the bags beneath his eyes, the scattered papers and the nearly gone bottle of bourbon. silas wouldn't blame her for not wanting to notice those things, but he knows she does. they all do. most days, silas is lucky that they ignore it. glancing at his sister over wire frame reading glasses, tired eyes search her expression for any kind of disappointment that surly would reside there. even if it was buried, hidden to the untrained eye, silas knew it existed. he could feel it all the time, even when scar wasn't looking at him. a mother's disapproval, though she never should had to have been that to him.
' i don't know how you all can sleep in this house, ' he finally replies, and though his words do not directly answer her question, it gave enough away for scarlet to be certain silas had barely even closed his eyes while being here. too many memories, dark feelings that lurked behind him like shadows. there was nothing inherently wrong with their childhood home, and yet it felt as if everything was wrong with it. glancing at her once more, silas allowed his eyes to fall back on the out of order pages he held in his hands. in the corner, a record player sounds off softly. ' it was always too fucking quiet, ' @diggsgraves.
you must be a ghost: real enough to love, but always out of reach. @diggsgraves.

SCAR // @diggsgraves
sabine hated being away from the comfort of home. she missed her bed, her routine, the semblance that her life was in place. that knowledge that when she woke up her cat would be curling at the end of her bed. the blinds slowly rising. instead she woke up hungover. turns out you couldn’t outrun wine, no matter how many pedialytes you had the next morning. after a shower she almost looked like herself. she toss a hand through her hair, packing her things back into the car to drive the rest of the way to scar’s house.
it seemed like the smell of the hotel stuck to her. she couldn’t get the smell off of her. not even with the windows rolled all the way down and the music up. sab pulled into the driveway with a deep breath. there was nothing like an elder sister to make you feel like a child again. it was difficult to be the second daughter when the first was so pristine. sab fished around her pocket, popping a cigarette into her mouth, leaning down to light it.
she slung her purse over her shoulder, beginning to head to the door. sabine jumped when she realized that scar was right over her shoulder. “ my god scar ! ” she said, cigarette pinched between her fore and middle finger. “how are you always so quiet? i swear you always seem to sneak up on me. do you have to practice that in the kitchen? sneaking up on your subordinates? ”
