BlurĀ presented theĀ song, as a joke, to their record company as a potential single. But to the band's surprise, the label loved "Song 2." ā¤ļø

Backstory. The song was initially written as parody song, whichĀ made fun of the famous grunge scene in the United States in the early 90's.

Intended as a parody of grunge, the lyrics of the song make no sense, and are a intentional dig at grunge bands such as Nirvana who would use strange and unrelated phrases to construct their lyrics. In this way the lyrics came off as hilarious, and yet they work surprisingly well with the music, especially that classic "Woo-hoo!" refrain.

Hell, yeah!
God, no!
šBonus:
"Song 2" is the second single released from Blurās homonymous fifth album. It is a deeply catchy satire of grunge music. It is named "Song 2" because it appears as the second track on the album (both onĀ BlurĀ and the compilation album,Ā Blur: The Best Of), it is two minutes and two seconds long, and it is composed of two verses and two choruses. Fittingly, it also reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. sniff
Joke by Sicktracks: And this Track is so Sick, it reached number 2 without having to bear down š©

"Song 2" was first performed by the band on June 15, 1996 at the Hultsfred Festival in Sweden.
Damon AlbarnĀ told the audience:
"This is the other new song weāre doing. I donāt know what itās called, and I donāt even know what itās about [ā¦] ācos I havenāt really written it yet. Weāre gonna do it anyway. At the moment itās called "Song Number 2."

I IMPLORE U ALLLLLL TO READ "DIG IT" BY YOSHIDA MARU. š
so i've personally REALLY been loving this manga so far - it's obviously going to get so many comparisons to haikyuu being a volleyball manga and all, but i've found it has a pretty unique take w great humour.
i read it on mangadex rn, it has monthly updates and i'm loving mc and the rest of the characters. i think some complaints have been the art being confusing but i find it easy to follow? not sure if it's bc i play vball but i really like the stylistic choices at times.
not posting a full review esp bc i want to shy away from spoilers, but it's only 11 chapters as of today so i'd recommend giving it a try if you're into the sports genre. š©·
an early fave of mine is hori ryuuya, the team's setter, bc i think he is SO miyuki kazuya coded, if miyuki was smooth lmao and less of a "genius" (but still skilled at his sport). see screenshots below (spoiler free):
like. tell me this isn't just setter miyuki who wants to piss his opponents off at all times
... but here are examples of smooth hori. dying at "supposed to act like a glasses character" oml and honestly the shot of hori in the onsen LOOKS like miyuki.
so anyway lmk if you give it a chance and love it and PLSSSS dm me if so bc i want to talk abt it so badly š„¹š
