When they came up to talk to him, though, it was usually a bad sign. He tenses up when he sees the other walking towards him, and briefly considers running. They’ve made eye contact, though, and so it’s too late. He’s been locked into some social contract stating that he can’t get out of this. They were going to come up to him, and harass him, and the only thing that he could do was stare. And shake, a tiny bit.

“I’m looking for the Behavioural Analysis Unit, is this the right floor?”

“But do you know the man over there? He’s trying to take pictures of you when you aren’t looking.” Specifically, her ass.

to  say  that  jenny  wasn’t  all  that  versed  in  earth  culture  would  be,  well,  an  understatement,  to  say  the  least.  in  her  defense  though,  there  was  so  much  of  it  to  learn,  and  so  many  cultures  changing  throughout  the  years.  this  lead  her  to  one  of  the  local  coffee  shops,  confused  eyes  roaming  over  the  many,  many  options  they  had  to  provide.  after  a  few  minutes        (        in  which  she  got  no  closer  to  figuring  out  what  to  order        )        she  looked  around,  aiming  for  someone  who  actually  seemed  like  they  knew  what  they  were  doing.        “        excuse  me?  do  you  have  a  moment?  i’m  so  sorry  but  ―  i’ve  never  really  had  coffee  before  and  i  didn’t  realize  there’d  be  this  many  options,  what  would  you  suggest  for  someone  who’s  just  starting  out?        ”

There’s a moment where he looks at her, and she can feel her heart beating faster. This happens sometimes, and she never has an explanation for it. But then, he’s leaning in closer, and it takes her a second to recognize what’s happening. She’s seen in the movies before. Eyes flutter close the second that lips press against her own, and a hand goes up to his cheek, cupping it gently. Maybe asking him not to leave.
