āi did what i thought was rightā
Do you know what I think would be interesting to see? I want to see Colin go too far during a case and get someone hurt. Preferably Bill (cause I love to do that to him) but Gina could work just as well. And I donāt mean Colin hurts Bill, I mean Colin crosses a line and his actions lead to Bill getting hurt.
Because this entire time we have seen Bill pull Colin back, weāve seen Nikki convince him to reel it in. Even indirectly Gina being out in the field dampened Colinās gung-ho cowboy shit down a little but heās never done it willingly or thought about how his actions affect those around him. Case in point: Sarah. He tore that womanās psyche apart due to his blazing trail of vengeance. He had NO plan for what came after when he finished his mission and he had no more use for Sarah. No plan.
Now that Colin has learned the truth about Toni he doesnāt need to tiptoe anymore so as to not get found out about his little crusade and have it shut down and heās clearly still heartbroken so I expect him to just fling himself into danger whenever he can because it seems to me that he is just losing the will to play it safe.
So I really really want to see Colin do some dumb cowboy shit and get someone hurt so he can finally see that his ways donāt work when others are involved and heāll finally tone it down a bit. Weāve already seen Bill āloosen upā a bit and maybe go a shade of grey in a few areas but so far Colin hasnāt changed. And Iām not saying he has to have a whole character arc in one season but I want to see it at some point. I want Colin to see that his actions have consequences and (to quote Colin from episode 8) āitās not always you that pays.ā
Cause that man can regurgitate the words but you know he thinks heās above them. Also maybe it something bad happens to Bill because of Colinās actions it will also force him to confront the fact that he is falling the fuck apart. Heās been running on emotion and a sense of righteous fury since we met him and itās starting to affect him in the field. See: Andy, Sandy, and Toni.
I think it would be an interesting thing and realization to watch. Especially if it puts Bill into a really dangerous situation or get him really hurt so the facts leave Colin no where to hide.
i, dick wolf, and my buddy, speed weed, are going to produce a show with especially heinous subjects and you better take us seriously

A Non-Exhaustive List of Nick Gehlfuss One Chicago Episodes
requested/encouraged by the CIA fandom wanting more Nick content set in Wolf 'Verse
This is not a full list of every episode that Will Halstead is in, because that would be a very, very long list, but it is a list of... recommended episodes? They're the ones that I think cover the meat of the character, his important story beats, the best moments. They will be listed in chronological order, in case there are any through-lines that a watcher might need to understand. The list will also include two categories of episode:
Bold text will be for "required watching"
Italics will be for recommended, but not necessary
All episodes of crossovers will be listed with the above rules. Episodes in crossovers with no formatting are episodes that Will is not in, but are part of the crossover event.
He does show up in all three long-running One Chicago shows (no appearances in Chicago Justice), so this will be a very long list. The show in front of the episode number and name will be shortened: Fire, CPD, or Med. Crossover episodes will be all on the same line. Because of the length, it is underneath a cut, just so I don't clog everyone's dashes!
if you watch it an need to scream about it for any reason, my inbox is open, I still think about Will Halstead on a daily basis
Why Did No One Tell Me OG Law & Order Is the Best of the Franchise??
Okay, I need to scream about this for a second.
Iāve been binging OG Law & Order and⦠wow. Everyone hypes SVU (and sure, itās famous), but honestly? The original is where the real magic isāespecially seasons 5ā9. The cases are sharp, the cast lineups are insane, and Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy?? A powerhouse. Love love love.
Why OG Works Better
What makes OG stand out is how case-driven it is. Every episode feels like two shows in oneāhalf detective work, half courtroom drama. Tight storytelling, no filler. SVU, for all its popularity, often sidelines the cases to focus on Oliviaās personal arcs. OG sprinkles just enough personal stuff in between, so you crave the next glimpse without it overwhelming the story.
And the ensemble cast? Unmatched. Briscoe, Logan, Rey, Schiff, Claire, McCoyāeach brought a generational balance. No one was overshadowed, they all played off each other, which made the show feel bigger than just āone star character.ā
McCoy + Claire + Schiff = Peak
Speaking of balance, Iāll never forgive the choice to kill Claire. That trio was gold:
Schiff as the weary-but-wise authority figure,
Claire as the challenger and grounding presence,
McCoy as the courtroom firebrand.
Together, they pulled out dimensions in each other. Claire especially drew out Jackās bratty, chaotic sides in ways that humanized him. Later ADAs often just looked up to McCoy instead of pushing back, which flattened the dynamic.
Behind the scenes, Jill Hennessy wanted out, but instead of recasting Claire, Dick Wolf decided killing her would āgive McCoy more depth.ā š But honestly? Wouldnāt it have been deeper to show him finally trying (after two failed marriages) to figure out work-life balance? Thatās growth. Instead, they locked him into the ālone courtroom warriorā box.
The Lone Wolf Problem
And thatās kind of Wolfās whole philosophy across the franchises, right? To be the top of your game, you have to be alone. McCoy. Olivia. Stabler. They get written into that ālone wolf geniusā corner. But what if the braver choice was showing that you can be brilliant and still have connection, still have balance? That wouldāve been far richer.
Later Seasons⦠Meh
By the time I hit season 18 with Cutter and Rubirosa⦠Iām bored. Theyāre polished and good-looking, but flat. No spark, no tension. Itās so noticeable after the electric eras with Briscoe, Logan, Rey, Schiff, Claire, and early McCoy. The later ADAs felt more like mentees orbiting Jack than equals who could challenge him.
My ADA/DA Era Ranking (aka fight me in the notes):
McCoy + Claire Kincaid + Schiff ā Peak. Balance. Sparks. Chaos. Brilliance.
McCoy + Jamie Ross + Schiff ā Jamie had bite and perspective. She was principled but still knew how to push back.
McCoy + Abbie Carmichael + Schiff ā Abbieās fire and sharp edges made her the perfect counterweight to Jack.
Stone + Robinette + Schiff ā The blueprint. Pure, case-first storytelling.
McCoy + Alexandra Borgia + Branch ā Short-lived but promising. She had heart and grit before Wolf undercut her by fridging her.
McCoy + Serena Southerlyn + Branch ā Serena was intelligent, but came across as high-handed and privileged, often missing real-world grounding.
McCoy + Cutter + Rubirosa ā Polished, but flat and forgettable.
Anyway. Justice for Claire. Justice for the golden years when Law & Order was truly about the law and the order.
I Know SVU Has Iconic Women, But We Need to Formally Apologize to Them Because Frannie May Rules This Show
Put down your badges and clear the courtroom, because we need to talk about the absolute blueprint of loyalty, grace, and flawless behavior in the Law & Order: SVU universe. I am talking, of course, about the literal best girl to ever grace the screen: Frannie May the dog.
Amanda Rollins' sweet fur baby was the ultimate emotional anchor in a squad room full of pure chaos, and itās time we give her the crown she deserves.
Letās look at the absolute facts of why Frannie easily clears the entire roster:
1. Zero Fandom Drama: While everyone else is busy getting caught up in squad politics, relationship mess, and personal trauma, Frannieās only daily conflict was deciding which toy to chew on.
2. The Ultimate Nanny: She didn't just love Amanda; she fiercely protected and looked after Jesse and Billie. A sweet, gentle, well-mannered queen who understood the assignment of being a big sister.
3. Impeccable Manners: Polite? Check. Playful? Check. Her only actual complaints in life were being bombarded with premium food and getting non-stop attention from the blonde detective who loved her so fiercely.
Look, I love the women of this show. I really do. But I need to issue a formal, sweeping apology to the entire SVU universe right now.
Sorry, Olivia. Sorry, Alex. Sorry, Casey. Sorry, Melinda. Sorry, Jeffries, Kathy, Donnelly, Greylek, Kat, Grace, and yes, even sorry to Amanda herself! You are all legends, but you are not a perfect, sweet, fluffy doggy.
And finally... Rest in Peace to Frannie May. The fact that she was played by Kelli Giddishās actual real-life dog makes her legacy even more heartbreaking and beautiful. She will never, ever be forgotten. šš¾
