With the new information that FRIEND is potentially a bunch of hunting cats under the control of one person, I kind of wondering if there is a Tasque Manager and the Tasque parallel here? You know, the character that owns and commands a bunch of cats, and shows up in the same chapter as the first appearance of FRIEND? Also, the Tasque themselves are computer task, and FRIEND is a part of the DEVICE. The clue to what FRIEND actually is has been here all along.
