Devin stood in the doorway, a faint smirk on his lips as he watched Lex, amused at just how large the hoodie looked on him. It was endearing, really, adorable even. But that didn’t mean Dev wasn’t going to tease him just a little.

Lissa had started bringing Lex around more when she realized Devin didn’t have a problem with him. It had been a relief to her, to be able to have at least one friend that actually got on well with brother and one that she could just leave at the warehouse while she went out. Even Devin had grown accustomed to having Lex around and considering him just part of the normal day to day.

He had always been rather mindful to keep at least some distance. Lex was his sister’s friend and, while he was over 18, it was barely. It didn’t matter that he was cute, not with everything else. He was not going to make a move on someone like that. Even if the age difference wasn’t there, he was still Lissa’s friend and, to Devin, that seemed like crossing a line. 

Some of the spaces were more narrow than others and that was what he was blaming things on. The closeness, the already present tension and he should have moved away, should have done anything except stand there and stare. 

The kiss startled him, even if he had seen it coming, it was still a shock. It shouldn’t have been, but it was and Devin was torn. Was he supposed to let Lex down or was he supposed to return the affection? He knew which one he would have preferred and he almost gave in, one hand cupping Lex’s face before he realized what he was doing.

They had been arguing, which wasn’t entirely out of the ordinary, but the kiss had caught him off guard. Even if he would have preferred sinking into that moment instead of continuing the fight, he knew pausing on it wouldn’t do either of them any good either. 

But as much as he wanted to pull away, to stay angry, he couldn’t, not with the intensity of that kiss.
