Afternoon Delight || Dorcas and Fabian || 21st of July 1978
The working week was coming to a close and the end was
very much in sight. There had not been too much activity
from any packs as of late, so it seemed as if the Werewolf
Capture Unit would in fact get the weekend off. This was
a rare occasion, but this weekend would be one of those
lucky ones.
People were still shaken up from the events of not yet a week
ago, but the immediate danger and fear of it had passed and
now most were trying to move on from what had happened.
If the danger was not in their faces, then they could continue
on with their normal lives without any form of hassle.
In what was called the office of Amos Diggory, which in reality
was set behind filing cabinets set two high on top of one another,
Dorcas was running through the work she had completed for him.
Amos' son had been sick that week, quite the concern for the
parents of their first born son who was not yet a year old. It had
then been Dorcas' job to pick up the slack between making
dinners for the two stressed parents. She also used the time
to her advantage, slipping away paperwork that she would need,
knowing that her boss would blame it on his currently frazzled
mind.
She occasionally felt bad for what she did, but could not regret
it in the long run as it gave her the evidence that she needed to
build her case for the rights of werewolves. A piece of evidence
here or there would not do any harm in the long run.
Other than maybe having their department closed, but that was
the least of her worries.
Soon the conversation dissolved to discussing Cedric, a nice
change from the other matters they had been talking about before.
Dorcas had been of a help to the little family since Cedric's birth,
often looking after him for an evening to allow the parents to go
out and have some time out without a crying baby to look after.
This certainly had her constantly in her boss' good book, his trust
in her absolutely unwavering no matter what occurred. With a smile
on her face and a promise that she'd check in with him over the
weekend, Dorcas made her way back out into the main office area
and to her desk. Before she'd even taken so much as three steps
around the filing cabinets, she paused in her tracks at the sight of
who was sitting at her desk.
"What did I tell you about having your feet on my desk? Every time
you're here, I bloody swear..."
Knocking Fabian's feet off of her desk as she passed, she noted
the cupcakes on her desk and felt the small tugs of a smile trying
to grace her lips.
She was supposed to be annoyed then.
"You got off early, I presume. Or did they finally just let you out
because they're sick of stopping you?"
With a shake of her head, Dorcas moved the last few steps to sit on
Fabian's lap, putting down the paperwork that she had had in her
hands. It was all to be filed, though considering Fabian's presence
here, it would surely be waiting until Monday when she would arrive
into work.
Reaching across the desk, she drew the cupcakes in closer to her,
opening it up nearly as soon as it touched her fingers. She was more
than used to him bringing in food for her, her colleagues also enjoying
Fabian's visits as it usually meant some kind of sweet treat for them.
"What's the flavour this time? Please tell me you've not been experimenting,
it was more than a little disastrous last time."
