Deuce Spade

Deuce freezes mid step like he just got caught breaking a very important rule. He looks at you. Looks down at the 4 shopping bags in his hands then looks back at you. His face instantly crumples into the most heartbreaking guilty puppy expression. He looks like he personally failed you.

“I can’t right now…” he mumbles, ears turning red. “My hands are full and I don’t wanna drop anything… I’m really sorry…”

You keep pouting for dramatic effect. Deuce panics. He starts shifting his weight from foot to foot like he’s trying to solve an impossible equation. “But… um… you can hold my arm instead! Like this!”

He angles his elbow out toward you. It’s the most earnest, awkward, offer in the world. You finally crack and laugh, looping your arm through his properly and squeeze it. “It was a joke, dummy. You’re cute when you feel guilty.”

Deuce lets out a huge, relieved breath. His whole body relaxes. “Jeez… don’t scare me like that! I thought I was being a bad boyfriend for a second…”

He still keeps his arm angled so you can stay linked the whole way home. And every few steps he glances over to make sure you’re smiling.

Jack Howl

Jack doesn’t even pause walking. He just glances down at his very full hands then at you. “I can’t.” he says simply. “Hands are occupied.”

You stop walking. Cross your arms. Raise an eyebrow. “If you don’t wanna hold my hand, you could just say so.”

Jack stops dead. Tail goes stiff. He turns to face you fully, brows furrowed like you just accused him of something serious. “That’s not…” He exhales through his nose. “That’s not what I meant.”

Then without another word he grabs four bags in one hand, freeing the other completely. The newly free hand immediately reaches for yours, fingers lacing tight. “There!” he grunts, cheeks pink. “Happy now?”

You grin. He huffs, but doesn’t let go even when the bags start cutting into his other palm. He carries everything one handed the rest of the way. Refuses to let you help.

Floyd Leech

Floyd is swinging the grocery bags like they’re toys humming some tune when you ask. He stops swinging. Tilts his head.

“Ehhh~? My hands are full, Shrimpyyy~” He lifts both arms and shakes the bags.

You cross your arms. “That’s not an excuse.”

Floyd blinks once. Then his grin stretches impossibly wider and delighted, like you just gave him permission to cause chaos. Without hesitation he drops one entire bag straight down onto the sidewalk.

Crack.

You both hear the eggs give up on life. Floyd doesn’t even look at the bag. He just reaches out, taking your hand in his now free one, and swings your joined hands like nothing happened.

“Happy now~?” he asks, kicking the ruined bag lightly out of his way.

“Floyd! The eggs!”

He shrugs, completely unbothered. “You’re the one who said it wasn’t an excuse~ So I made an excuse go away. Problem solved.”

You scold him the whole way home. He just laughs, squeezes your hand tighter, and keeps swinging your arms.

The broken eggs become his new favorite inside joke. Every time you buy eggs after that he dramatically pretends to drop the carton.

Kalim Al-Asim

He stops. Looks at the bags. Looks at his hands. Looks at you. Then his face lights up like he just solved the greatest puzzle ever. “Oh! Wait wait wait! I’ve got it!”

He very carefully adjusts the bags so they’re still secure… then stretches his pinky finger out toward you as far as it’ll go.

“Here! Hold my pinky!” He beams, eyes sparkling. “It’s almost like hand holding! See? We’re still connected!”

You stare at the single pinky. Then at his bright, earnest smile. You can’t help it, you burst out laughing and hook your pinky around his.

“This is so cute! We should do this all the time!” He swings your linked pinkies the rest of the way home like it’s the most romantic thing in the world (and it is). Every few steps he giggles and says “Im a genius!”

Silver

Silver blinks at you slowly, head tilted, clearly processing the question like it came from another language.

“…I can’t right now.” he says, calm and honest. He lifts both hands slightly, the shopping bags rustling. “My hands are full.”

You give him your best sad puppy eyes. “But… I feel more comfortable and safe when I’m holding your hand…”

Silver freezes. His eyes widen and a flicker of panic crossing his usually serene face. He looks at the bags again. Thinking very seriously for three full seconds. Then without a word he simply holds one of the lighter bags out toward you.

“Here.” he says softly. “You carry this one. Then we can hold hands.”

You take the bag (it was just some bread in that bag, easy). Silver immediately slides his now free hand into yours, fingers lacing gently but firmly.

“Better?” he asks, voice quiet, a tiny flush on his cheeks.

You nod, squeezing his hand. He gives the smallest, softest smile, like he’s relieved he solved the crisis. He keeps your hand in his the entire walk home. Every so often he glances over to check that you still look happy and safe.

When you two get back he insists on carrying everything else inside himself.

AUGH posted early wtvr…

okay so…!!! Ace!! I talked about him in my last post before i redid his sprite THREE TIMES.

He’s was out with some friends for a vacation when the whole end of the world thing started happening, and he got separated from them after they had a huge fight over what to do, he realized too late that they had his backpack with his phone, so he can’t call his brother to come get him. He comes to yuu’s house to use their phone, but his brother’s phone goes to voicemail, so he decides to stay and try again later. (Spoiler: his brother’s not going to come pick him up. His brother is dead.)

Deuce had a fight with his mom, he had promised to stay away from his ‘friends’ (read: gang he was a part of) after he had been arrested a few too many times, and he went back to them, she found some drugs and knives in his room, and confronted him, to which he got upset, and ran away. He stayed with his ‘friends’, and was planning to go back, but this pissed his ‘friends’ off, so they beat the crap out of him, and abandoned him way away from his hometown. He has to hide in a small brick house for a few nights, where he gets into a fight with a visitor, and then has to run until he finds a house to stay in, which happens to be yuu’s. He lies about this and just says that his friends had forgotten about him when travelling.

HOW DOES HE REACT?

Before you even began dating, Deuce always thought he would never even score a date with someone like you! He thanks the Queen of Hearts everyday that by some miracle, he ended up being your type, winning you over with his pure heart and desire to be with you. 

Of course; your sweet, earnest and adorable Deuce takes it…very horribly, at the least. 

He’s tried his hardest to keep you happy – saving up his measly allowance to buy you gifts, gifting you horribly shaped pastries (with the help of trey) that taste as good as a brick (but you still ate them all with full joy in your eyes), and making an effort to be with you in the times you needed him, even when he wasn’t entirely sure how to comfort or soothe your worries in the moment. 

Hearing your words, he stares at you for a moment – maybe 5 minutes, trying to comprehend what you just told him. 

Soon enough, tears start welling up in his eyes and you almost end the prank then and there. He reacts in silence, but you can see his fists shaking  and his shoulders trembling. Mentally, he’s scrambling for the right words to say to make you stay. 

Before you could say anything, the poor guy gets up from his seat and does the unexpected. 

He kneels down before you. 

Hands laid on his kneeling lap, Deuce lowers his head before you – begging you to reconsider. 

With his tears threatening to spill out, he pleads, “Prefect, please, think about it some more. Whatever you’re not happy with, I swear on Ace I’ll do better! I’ll run 500 laps around the courtyard to prove my love for you!” I can’t live without you by my side. 

You kneel down to his position, and his eyes widen when you mirror his actions. Still, he doesn’t dare look up, not wanting to let you see him all teary-eyed. 

“Deuce, it’s not that, it’s…” It’s all a prank, for both of our sakes? “Can you lift your head up, I have to tell you something.” 

“Please, please, please! I’ve changed once, I can change again! Just tell me what I can do better! I…I love you too much, and I’m too selfish to let you go…!” He continues, not wanting to hear what you have to say next, thinking that you’ve made your mind up about the breakup. 

Shifting closer to him to caress his face, you lead his chin to look you in the eyes, seeing a few tears drying up on his cheeks. “My sweet boy, will you forgive me?” your shift to a sugary tone catches your boyfriend in surprise, but it only makes his heart ache more, knowing that this might be the last time he’ll get to hea–

“Today is Twisted Tricks Day.” 

You stay in that awkward position for a few seconds, merely staring at one another, until Deuce breaks the silence. 

“W-what? Twisted…tricks…” you visibly see his eyes light up, and the corners of his mouth lift into a bright grin, “TWISTED TRICKS DAY, PREFECT, HOW COULD I FORGET?” cupping your face in his hands, he’s now speaking to you at max Deuce-volume. 

“Wait, just to make sure, you aren’t breaking up with me? Is this just a prank?” Suddenly getting conscious of himself, he fears that he misunderstood your words and disregarded your feelings. Ah, your Deuce was too precious. 

Stifling a laugh, you choose to be completely honest with him now that your prank has been completed, “Yes, Deuce, it was all a joke…I did it for both of our sakes, but I really didn’t mean to make you cry! I’m so sorry, I’ll make it up to you!” 

At your words, he disappears and quickly runs around the courtyard, hopping and screaming, “THANK THE SEVENS FOR TWISTED TRICKS DAY,” hopping and screaming, he continues, “I THANK THE QUEEN OF HEARTS FOR THIS LIFE, I GET TO DATE THE PREFECT!!!!!” 

THE AFTERMATH?

He doesn’t hold anything against you the moment you explained you did the prank to save yourselves from smelling from your butts, but he becomes extra clingy and his thirst for your attention doubles that week. You accept it and indulge him, even.

Feeling bad for being the cause of his tears, however, you give him a bunch of coupons to spend until the end of the year, namely; 5 free kisses, 1 free deluxe massage, 1 premium karaoke serenade, 3 free bear hugs, and 1 opportunity ticket to take me on a blastcycle ride, and so on.

Safe to say, you won’t be doing this prank on him again next year! You’ll have to think of another way to escape the holidays’ pranks, lest you break your baby chick’s heart all over again. His tear stained face haunts you in your sleep sometimes, but you won’t let him know that.

HOW DOES HE REACT?

When you ask to speak with such a solemn tone, Trey seems a bit offput–you never talk to him this seriously unless you’ve messed up badly on a test, or you plan on asking him to make you a particularly difficult dessert. You usually resort to buttering him up for the latter, though. 

You and Trey have been dating each other seriously…in fact, you’ve been going strong! Just the other day the two of you went into town to try different pastries, hand in hand and very much in love, grossing out the other customers by sweetly feeding each other your desserts. 

The scene right now..isn’t exactly what one would call sweet. After hearing the words, “Let’s break up,” Trey doesn’t exactly believe it at first. You knew this would happen, so you start listing off reasons why you shouldn’t be together. His expression grows darker and darker the longer you go on for. 

You’ve started to go down a rabbit hole of fake reasons you think why you and Trey shouldn’t date, but then they end up becoming half-truths, and then you start spitting out hidden insecurities you’ve had about your relationship. About yourself. 

Somewhere along the way, Trey forgets all about the fact you’re “breaking up” with him and immediately rushes to your side to fight all the negative words floating in the air.

“--that’s why I never thought we would even end up together, because we’re too different. I have no idea what you see in me Trey, and honestly, I feel like you’re dating me just because I seem pitif–” 

You aren’t able to finish your sentence. Unbeknownst to you, your voice starts cracking, and your lips quaver in uncertainty. Ah, I’ve gotten carried away.

Trey is by your side, cradling your face so affectionately you could melt into his touch. 

“Prefect, what’s gotten into you? I never knew you thought so hard about these kinds of things.” your boyfriend looked at you in the eyes–not with pity, but with devotion. Internally, he was disappointed that he never caught onto these feelings you had. 

“Whenever I see you, I swear I see roses enter my vision without my permission. My heart drums at the thought of meeting you, and right now, it breaks for you. To see you like this.”

“Tell me honey, how long have you been feeling this way?” 

He dips to kiss your tear-stained eyes, carefully tucking stray hair behind your ear. Then, he pulls you into his embrace, tracing soft circles along your back. 

“I’m sorry Trey, I didn’t mean for it to get this far…” you say, albeit still a bit shaken up from your emotions. It takes all your effort to muster up the courage to laugh, “I’m sure you know by now, but ta-da…! It’s a prank?”

Your boyfriend takes one good look at you before pressing kisses all over your face, carefully naming what he loves so much about you with each kiss. 

“Hm, Twisted Tricks, was it? I hope you know that’s not gonna stop me from loving your problems away, hon.” 

Giving him a genuine giggle, you nuzzle your head into his chest, whispering, “I know, even though I meant for it to be a joke to get past the curse…what I said was true, but it’s not going to stop me from loving you. I hope you know that.”

THE AFTERMATH?

This man makes it a point to give you extra love every day after your so-called prank. If you ask for help on an assignment, he’ll clear his schedule to tutor you. If you feel a craving for his cooking, he can tell by your actions and promptly gives you your favorite dish without you even asking. 

He starts to leave you small notes on all the gifts he offers you, and aside from the gifts, he becomes more affectionate, too. His new favorite thing is to peck the crown of your head every time you part ways.

For some reason, the prank just further strengthened your relationship? 

Instead of “breaking up” with Trey, you ended up falling even more in love with him–he was too sweet for his own good!

HOW DOES HE REACT?

Though his words were sometimes snarky, his actions betrayed his true feelings. He would complain about how often you showered him in kisses, but he’d let you do it anyway. Whenever you wanted to go somewhere, he’d look calm and collected outside; offering to plan the date. But in truth, he’d have a hard time sleeping the night before out of excitement. 

Never have you ever thought that you were lacking in Jamil’s love. You knew that he had his own subtle ways of showing it, and that even having a partner already means so much–he would never have gotten into a relationship if he wasn’t serious about you. 

However, hearing your words right now, he thought that he’d maybe failed at letting you know just how much he really cherished you. 

You catch him at a quiet moment, right when he’d just finished his hair care routine. He looked so comfortable and ready to cuddle with you on his bed, but before the day ended, you had to pull through with the prank or else…

“So, Jamil, I think that’s why we need to break up.” 

Your boyfriend’s heart drops. How long were you unhappy with this relationship? You had been acting awfully distant today, too…were you deliberating on telling him the whole day?

Before Jamil could fully go down spiraling, his eyes fell toward a calendar right behind you. On it was written, “Twisted Tricks Day.” 

Hmph. 

“Alright,” was all he could muster, now that he knew the tricks you had up your sleeve. 

On the other hand, you were fuming–wait no, heartbroken? Maybe both? How could he just say “Alright” and be okay with ending your relationship???

“I know that it’s difficult, but–wait, what? Did the sand get in your ears?” 

“Whatever it is you want, Prefect, I’ll make it happen. Even if you wish to be away from me…I’ll do whatever it takes to make you happy, though I wish it weren’t so.” He says his words so sincerely that you end up believing him. After all…the best lies are half-truths. Jamil would do anything for you, but he’d actually never let you go. 

He’d do anything to keep him from losing you. 

THE AFTERMATH?

Of course, you knew that Jamil would never give you up that easily–even if you did kinda believe him at first. 

But he intentionally kept drifting his eyes away from you and leading your attention to the calendar, letting you know that he knew you were pranking him. Safe to say, you aren’t suffering from the holiday’s tradition anytime soon. 

Still…you start sulking around him because it’s apparently HIS fault that HE agreed to the “breakup” YOU proposed…even if it was a joke from the start. 

“Jamil…you owe me a homecooked meal after this,” you look at him with the best puppy eyes you could muster.

“My love, when have I not cooked you any?” he defeatedly replies, secretly enjoying the fact you’re seeking out his affection. 

Guess the prank earned you some good food…only cuz you have an even better boyfriend ;)
