𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐲, 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 they entered the party is anything to go by. desire slams the door open and the music playing in the background does nothing to muffle their loud exclamation. morpheus goes over to try to contain the chaos, but it seems that sibling only gets more incensed upon seeing him. they bare their teeth and snap at him and dream doesn't think they've ever been so obnoxiously bold before. just another reason to disregard their petulance. ❝ sibling of mine, ❞ dream says after a moment, and a crowd starts to form around them, drawn in by the sense of drama unfolding. ❝ i'm going to have to ask you to leave. you were not invited, and even if you were-- you're scaring the guests. ❞ there's a glance around at those watching; it's clear that morpheus is anxious about a public spectacle. he's never been one to air out dirty laundry, especially with desire. ❝ why did you come ? to ruin things ? ❞

❝ 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 ! ❞ child of the endless exclaims in his desperation for something, anything, to be different. he misses eurydice like a missing limb; she's always there in the back of his mind. still trapped, as he left her. the guilt and grief feel all encompassing, as if swallowing him whole. he's sure his relative can feel what he desires more than anything: to get her back. he also knows it's not in their power to do anything about it. fists clench and unclench at sides and he reaches up to wipe away angry tears. he can't look at them right now. he doesn't want their platitudes; he wants his partner back. ❝ it's never fair. ❞

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 is the only warning that the king of dreams gets before he's being roughly shoved and pinned against the wall of his castle. desire had come into his realm for this show of power, but dream can hardly say he's blameless. the entire reason for this visit, he suspects, is previous act of uncreating their nightmare, the corinthian. dream had been aware of the affair that desire and the corinthian had together -- however, he didn't realize just how devoted this affair was. for the motion seems to have drawn desire's genuine anger, an expression that morpheus has hardly ever seen on sibling's features. ❝ desire, ❞ the eldest endless says after a moment, unafraid and disapproving of such a show of emotion. ❝ release your grip on our person. and use your words, sibling. to what do we owe this visit ? ❞
