Today we’ve got the latest release and first script font of the TypeMates Gangit’s from Mikkel.

Mikkel’s a smooth and goofy script with an easygoing attitude. A brushy script for anything that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Mikkel is the cheeky joker in TypeMates’ font library and the best buddy of expressive typography at large sizes.

And Mikkel is a double act. Along with its expressive connected script style, Mikkel has a ‘sans’ with a disconnected lowercase that allows it to pull off more tricks. As Mikkel’s script forms work their magic in logos and lettering, Mikkel Sans makes sure any additional text is clear and complementary.

Mikkel’s uppercase is pretty swashy so we designed its small caps to be a little more restrained for all caps settings — keeping Mikkel’s soul and providing typographic contrast. Smart OpenType features take Mikkel back to its lettering roots; alternate characters ensuring tricky combinations and double letters stay smooth, smart and sunny.

An exuberant and bouncy typeface that’s full of fun at large sizes, Mikkel is also serious when it comes to your workflow. With over 1000 glyphs per font, huge Latin language support, OpenType features to give the ext the flow of lively lettering and typographic goodies like small caps, old style and tabular numerals, Mikkel’s got it where it counts.

We have received the latest typeface from Emtype Foundry in  Barcelona.

Steradian, an exploration of the geometric genre. Although it has a geometric base, the widths between letters are not much different across the weights. That is due to the process, in which the proportions of the heavier weights paved the way for the lighter ones. It also has a series of details that make Steradian stand out and gives it a special touch. Some of its main features are the double-story ‘a’, its closed apertures and some of the capitals have a distinct personality (such as the G and Q).

The creative Director Robert Bohinec shared with us the cleanest font in the world – made from trash found in nature of Slovenia.

Ecologists without borders, Futura DDB, and numerous volunteers have created a special typeface. They created One-of-a-kind ecological font from the trash they collected on a World Cleanup Day. The font was made out of different sort of waste found in nature such as old cans, batteries, bottles, tires, helmets, jackets, furniture and so on. It can be used as a reminder that every piece of trash can be RECYCLED AND REUSED – even as art – as garbage doesn’t belong in the greens of nature but we can reuse it for a greater good.

Christoph Alexander Gratzer, a freelance designer based in Athens – Greece sent us the new book that he will release at the end of October. This is a graphic design/art book “CHERU” and accompanying FONT

“A BOOK CALLED CHERU” is a playful approach in creating a whole fantastic universe with a single font. A 186 pages strong book full of holy quotes and mesmerizing graphics experiments.

Form follows coincidence.

While creating this „Universe called Cheru“, Christoph Alexander Gratzer (AKA Exidas) followed this method to a T and out came a 186 pages strong book full of holy quotes and mesmerizing graphics experiments.

Over the period of 2 years, he designed this book in many steps of artistic deconstruction and reconstruction to find the right flow for its story to tell, becoming very personal but also political in the process.

Ode to a font

By playing vividly with the roughness of the font itself — a dedication to the legacy of the signpainters of Africa — and filling „CHERU’s alphabet“ with quotes mostly connected to the Hip Hop and Dub cultures, he is so deeply rooted in, shows its immediate connection to street art.
