What Crooked Roots is a collection of 15 folk horror encounters I created for 5e, but they're pretty system neutral. The Groat man, pictured in infancy below, is the serial killer of the collection. He stalks intruders who enter his village, and while at first glance his stat block might make you scoff, he uses the environment to trick and separate explorers.

But that's not the only thing that awaits you in What Crooked Roots. Game masters will find lore, strange items, weird creatures, and terrifying environments. It's the perfect collection to refer to when your party is traveling through the woods, and you want something a little more interesting than Owlbears.
