Entry 02
It's a warm Sunday night
I am lying next to you
Your tired hands are holding me tightly
Asking me to sleep but
Your sleepy voice still drives me crazy
I turn my face towards you
You pull me closer
And your warm breath feels like a breeze
Everything feels so perfect
When I am next to you
Your heartbeat feels like a lullaby
I look at your lips with love
Remembering the times when it was on mine
You open your eyes slightly
And I close mine haphazardly
Before I could open my eyes to stare at you
Your lips gently brush against mine
Hearing the thunder
I opened my eyes only to find
Ur wedding pictures lying beside me
U are smiling at her
And with a deep sigh
I accepted u were never mine
The doors of hope
I have closed them forever now
But I cry Remembering you
While praying about you
My hands start trembling
Seeing your hands holding her tightly
I have accepted one thing
Even after 933 days
I still dream of being by your side
Man I just love this key chainππππ

let's talk about how any insult to vande mataram, the national song, is now criminalized, with imprisonment of up to three years, a fine, or both.
any legitimate criticism, whether crude or not, towards the national song, now may be considered criminal, because the word "insult" allows subjective interpretation. and anything allowing interpretation has often been misused in this country.
let's talk about how india ranks 157th out of 180 countries on the freedom of its press.
let's talk about how it has only dropped further since narendra modi came into power.
let's talk about how the state can restrict the fundamental right of freedom of speech and expression for reasons with undefined limits like "public order," "morality," and the "sovereignty and integrity of india", again, allowing subjective interpretations.
let's talk about how it's been misused.
let's talk about how the fundamental right to protest peacefully has very often met by severe restrictions and police violence in the form of lathi charges, tear gas, pellet guns, legal consequences, and illegal detention.
you have freedom to use your mouth. oh β but don't dare to use it too boldly. don't infringe on someone's personal ideal of "morality" and "order", who has the power to make you a criminal. don't practise your freedom too loudly. don't protest β unless you're prepared to deal with police violence for practicing your fundamental right.
dance within their ideals of patriotism. don't criticize the government. shh. you might be called "anti-nationalist" or "pakistani". but the fact that many indians consider being chinese and pakistani inherently derogatory is a conversation for another day.
we don't talk about how the constitution is often just a piece of paper now β a suggestion they may or may not listen to.
whatever is convenient for the government prevails, right? we voted for them, didn't we?
there is no freedom here β if you aren't constantly prancing within boundaries which are getting smaller and smaller, day by day.

WOKE UP TO HIS RESIGNATIONNNN!!
this blog genuinely led the way for me. I was fourteen cradling my love for desi centric novels. I so desperately wanted to both read and write a book that I would've read as a young girl. I started reading and reviewing the same books I searched so hard for - and with a lot of time and love - 5 and a half years past with more than 50 brown girl books (as I affectionally call them). This weekend I am going to New York's Union Square Barnes and Noble's to visit a beloved author Tashie Bhuyian - she wrote some of my favorite books ever (All of which are brown girl books) ( The sweetest human that knows me and my friend by name - who said that her friendship with Chloe Gong (of These Violent Delights) reminds her of us. I am going to go see her by myself for the first time ever on Saturday which I am more than excited about. Alongside this weekend I am receiving my first ever Advanced Reader Copy book. "Mischief Girls" by Aashna Avachat - another brown girl book that I can not wait to read. it is not very often that I find a desi centric novel that focuses on mysteries and criminal activity but Avachat's book does! I can truly not believe that I am receiving an ARC for it. To me, that is a huge honour that is actually gifted upon me. Being an author is a position of love and labour that I have yet to achieve but to know someone wrote with the intention of the same stories that I longed for. Even on top of that, I participate in a brown girl book club where Avahchat's sister Arushi Avachat book "Rani Deshpande Takes The Wheel" is the current read and ironically one of my most excited reads of the year. I am about 4 pages away from finishing it and truly when I say this book is pure love and excitement. It is thee book for girls who can't drive because of their anxiety (sincerely a girl who couldn't but can now). Arushi is actually joining the zoom call the same day I am going into the city to meet Tashie and the same day Aashna's book is being sent to me. Like this Saturday can NOT come soon enough.
I am at my core just a brown girl with her brown girl books.
Life really went downhill when I stopped doing daily dance routines on chatpatte spicy bollywood songs ππππ
