It took me 20 days but I finally listened to the entire 45+ hours audiobook of IT by Stephen King. Since I won’t be working as many hours now, the next ones I read shouldn’t take me so long. This was read by Steven Weber and it was worth every second of those 45+ hours. Even though IT has been around for decades and made into several movies, I went into this book completely blind on what it was about. All I knew for sure was a clown named Pennywise in a sewer drain and literally nothing else. The book switches between two timelines; 1958 and 1985, and follows the same seven people, first as kids then as grownups. This self proclaimed Losers Club decides to figure out what’s been terrorizing their town and do whatever it takes to put an end to it once and for all. I know from experience that movie adaptations never do justice to books and especially to Stephen King books, but I think I want to watch this one with my husband. However, after reading descriptions of the 1990 tv series and the 2017 movie, I’m already disappointed. If you’ve read the novel and seen the movies, which is the most tolerable? I know I’ll be seething at all the unnecessary alterations they do and will definitely bitch and moan about how it was better in the book, but I do want to watch it. So the 1990 version, or the 2017 version? What about IT 2, or whatever it’s called? What’s good and what’s bad?
