I thought I was like the only person in the fandom who liked Jordan and I'm so glad to know that you don't think he's abusive and that his actions were out of his control! -kayleighsday
Okay, so if Iâm being completely honest, when I first read the books at 17 and we first met Jordan, I hated him. Though of course that was in a bias situation because we had only seen from Maiaâs point of view of the situation (though she was completely right to believe what she did about him).Â
After a recent re-read of the books with me being older and thinking more on the situation and seeing from both sides and analyzing the situation more, I finally realized that Jordan actually wasnât a bad guy.Â
He was a guy who fucked up, but recognized that, and wanted to apologize and do better. And he was so great for Simon and wanted to make sure that Simon didnât end up doing what he did.Â
Jordan was literally not in control of his actions at the time that he attacked Maia. Just like Remus Lupin wasnât in control of his actions if he didnât take his Wolfsbane.Â
Jordan couldnât control his anger/rage anymore than Simon could control his bloodlust when he attacked Maureen. Or anymore than Jace could control his actions when he was possessed by Lilith and then connected to Sebastian. Though of course the fandom doesnât label Simon or Jace abusive based on those few moments, but they do Jordan for his. Itâs a complete double standard and I hate it.
