On May 1, 1945, German media officially announced that Adolf Hitler had "fallen at his command in the Reich Chancellery fighting to the last breath against Bolshevism and for Germany." Actually, he was in an underground bunker when he died the previous day after ingesting a cyanide tablet, but in fairness the announcement was originally written in German and I suppose meanings can get lost in translation, like how every time I translate "der Fϋhrer" it always sounds like "the doϋchebag.”
