   Pooled among empty alcohol bottles, parfiat glasses, half eaten cakes and assorted streamers, lay a partly naked younger sibling, nursing what could only be the last of the previous nights drink -- unaware that that too had been drained of its contents. Vergil had been warned of a party almost daily since their return to the surface and, only partly listening, opted to go elsewhere and revisit old libraries to pass the time and to avoid any nature to be roped into any of Dante’s poor decisions. To this display, there had been many poor choices he could count. Upon surveying the rest of the office space, the older had noted Dante’s female companions draped over various furniture, the encroaching morning sun casting shadows through the blinds and onto their soft breathing bodies -- chests rising and falling with light sleep.

   “Yes... empty principles.”, he spoke, carefully reaching down and shaking loose the bottle that was tightly knit in his brothers hand and castings it aside, hearing it shatter as it fell. Gripping each wrist in his palms, Vergil had dragged his brother to a near by couch, propping him in it before not so gently throwing the red leather coat at him.

 ALL  THAT  PAPER  SPREAD  ACROSS  THE  DESK  was  not  even  a  third  of  the  information  she  collected.  She  had  a  closet  filled  with  boxes  cataloged  with  every  aspect  regarding  her  parents'  case.  Since  the  accident  a  few  years  ago,  she  had  become  fixated  with  finding  answers  and  seeking  revenge.  Despite  being  fully  aware  that  that  plan  was  not  healthy  and  nothing  would  change  that  feeling  of  melancholy  inside  her,  she  had  to  try  at  least.  "Are  you  seriously  believing  me?"  She  narrowed  her  eyes,  showing  a  little  confidence.  Okay,  they  recommended  that  she  look  to  Dante  for  guidance,  but  even  then,  never  before  somebody  took  her  seriously.  It  was  hard  not  to  hold  that  way.

To see someone like Dante, who is normally cocky and confident, wearing such a sheepish expression makes her want to laugh. She doesn’t, but it’s still funny and adorable in its own way. Reaching out, she takes his other hand and gives it a gentle squeeze before letting go.

She hadn’t meant to outright say that she loved him. It was true, but it wasn’t something she’d planned on ever telling him. There was no reason to think that he felt the same, so why put it out in the open?

Yet she has and she can’t take it back. All she can do is take it in stride.

“You’re going to heat up the entire lake? Somehow I doubt that.” She grins as she teases him, dipping an already bare foot into the water to test the temperature. “Unless you plan on trying to cuddle with me or something while we’re swimming, which would keep us from being able to swim, so that wouldn’t be very smart of us...”

As mentioned in the prior post in passing, Miles has a history of disregarding other people’s boundaries when it suits him in favour of seeking attention.
