7. what scares you the most and why?

lol well the Anxieties™ would say failure but that's boring so: I am paralyzingly afraid of heights! It is almost 100% a subconscious physical reaction which makes it really funny sometimes because my whole body just! locks up! and won't move!! and i'm like "this is so dumb I KNOW i am fine" but my body's like "DANGER RED ALERT DON'T MOVE THE CLIFF CAN'T SEE YOU IF YOU DON'T MOVE"

both of the best occurrences of this happened at Arches Nat'l Park with my fam where I:

hiked to Delicate Arch, stood out in the photo spot, came back to the bowl and had a snack/water break and then, when we were ready to head back down....had to take off my shoes and crab walk barefoot until my body decided it was fine actually

same day, we went to Double Arch. Double Arch, as you may note, is not actually very high! I saw a great photo opp, darted forward with 0 thought (as you do), got two (2) feet off the ground. And Froze. spread eagle on this wall. Two (2) feet off the ground. 24 inches. My sister saw me, clocked what had happened, and both of started laughing hysterically while a poor woman beside us watched in mild horror

30. what’s one thing that never fails to make you happy/happier?

seeing my plants grow!! it's silly but I really do make myself take little walks around my apartment when I'm stressed and just Behold the Abundance!!! it works!

The day mom dies is the worst day of Dean’s life.

Dean has Sammy in his arms and he’s running, racing down the stairs as fast as his legs can carry him. Nellie is curled up and tucked in Sammy’s blankets, trembling at the heat and sound and smoke. Rasha is a steady presence at Dean’s side, as big as she can be. She’s a mountain lion, a young one, but big enough to keep Dean upright as they race for the front door. Kirna is howling somewhere in the background, and Rasha’s ears are flat in misery at the sound.

They make it to the front yard and Dean turns, searching desperately for his Dad and Kirna and Mom and Lukan. It’s taking them long, too long, to get out. Dean has tears in his eyes. They have to make it out. They have to.

Then the upstairs window explodes outwards.

Dean screams, Rasha wailing at his side. Sammy starts crying in his arms and Dean nearly collapses to the ground, when someone snatches him up and sprints away from the falling glass.

“Rasha!” Dean screams.

“She’s right here, Dean, she’s right here,” Dad says, voice hoarse and coated in smoke. Rasha shifts now that Dad is back, that there’s someone else to protect Sammy, shifting into a kitten and climbing up his shoulder to butt her head against his neck. Dad holds them tight in his arms, all four of them, Kirna whining pitifully at his feet as they watch the flames.

4) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to, and even open all my unreplied comments up pretty routinely. I get some intense commenting anxiety for some absurd reason, so it often takes a few tries. It’s something I want to work on, in tandem with leaving comments.

5) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Huh. Depends, I suppose. Truths to Tell or The Ring is Empty I think, but in different ways. Truths to Tell ends with a sense of defeat and listlessness that also leaves room for growth. The Ring is Empty however is the notion of being trapped, even with an inability to accept it.

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Oh gosh, I think probably... Head to Wind. There’s a frankly insistent and defiant sense of hope and brightness in it that is directly challenging cynicism. I don’t know. It feels bright.

7) Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Oh, I love a Daemon AU. I’m also a bit weak on mixing up Doctor Who with other sci-fi such as Red Dwarf and Animorphs.

8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Oh yes, very much so. I wrote a number of controversial fics. One of them got an entire analysis post on how I used my writing skills for evil, I shit you not. 

9) Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Not enough, honestly. Most of my ships are MLM so there’s that, but no guarantee of dicks. It’s definitely more a private matter.

10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Some scrubbed by sites, but I don’t count it, just file my DMCA and go.

11) Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but I did get a podfic of Crown you now, with many crowns !

12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yep! Currently working on Breaking Light. 

13) What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Goddamn you ask a hard question. No all-time fave ships, but I’m feeling darkshipping, promptis, and destiel lately.

14) What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

Quite a few tbh. I wonder sometimes if I’ll ever finish City of the Dead or Chrysalis....

15 & 16) What are your writing strengths/ weaknesses?

Strengths, uh-- I think I can write some pretty solid prose, push comes to shove. And I’m partial to my verb choice when I’m on a roll.

Weaknesses are definitely action sequences, tense changing mid-scene and endings. I never know how to make a graceful exit.

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Depends a lot stylistically. Sometimes it’s a good way to signal language shifts, or to highlight certain themes, sometimes it’s better to do an Asterix and Obelix style translation.

18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Beyblade, I believe. KaiTaka is still a great ship and I stand by it.

38. What does your writing process look like? How chaotic is it on a scale of 1 (very tame) to 10 (you can’t handle this kind of chaos)?

Apart from the MANY procrastination traps (tumblr! game on my phone! research rabbit hole!), I think my writing process is fairly tame? I have a gdoc. I start at the beginning. I gradually work my way through to the end. There's usually a very rough bulletpoint outline or stream-of-consciousness infodump at the bottom of the doc, and sometimes a few scene fragments, but for the most part I really do just start at the beginning and write my way through to the end. Some days I only manage to chip away at a couple of sentences. Sometimes I'll sit down and write 5k words in one evening. But it's always pretty chronological. So, like, I'll give myself a 3 on that scale.

39. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

fic rec! 8K Leverage, team as family

Summary: Eliot's role on a team is the hitter. He comes in to make sure everyone else makes it out unscathed. And he's very good at it. People feel safe, physically, when they see him on the scene. But this quiet kind of safe?

aka: 5 Times The Team Fell Asleep on Eliot Spencer (+1 Time He Napped On Them)

Comments: This is just full of warm fuzzies, even with the touch of angst and hurt on Elliot’s part. I mean, he has to be perfect because otherwise Nate might let him go and he doesn’t want that. We know Nate would never, but it’s an extra sense of weight to Elliot’s character I liked.
