Some doodles

It’s less of him being released and more of him finally engineering an escape.

Somehow, they manage to keep him weak enough that he can’t reform his pendulum and end Intervention.  But they finally mess up.  The carefully calculated food dosages are just a tad too nutritious one day, just enough for Ain to regain enough power to slip back into Ishmael’s cold embrace.

He walks easily through the bars of his cage and drags Mastermind out of bed.

“Boo,” he says, dropping the squirming scientist onto the exam table.  The straps react automatically to secure Add’s flailing limbs.  “Guess who’s the test subject now?”

Add opens his mouth to protest.  Ain slips a gag between his teeth and reaches out, configuring the machine like he’s seen Add and Dekal do a thousand times before.  The tickle-fingers start to descend.

“Wait!” Add cries - or something like that.  It’s rather muffled through the gag.  Ain smiles cheerily at him.

“I’ll make sure Els finds you,” he promises. “In… hmm, a week or so.”

And then he walks out to the sweet sound of Add’s screaming laughter.
