Thinking about Psi and Zeta in Emily's ( @deinocheirus ) Dragon setting A King of Worms....
Dragon thoughts ahead:
Zeta ("Zenith")
Zenith lives in a small city which has adopted her as a sort of cult icon. She never leaves, and mostly she lays around sleeping. Hobbies include eating livestock and getting into 'philosophical debates' with random people who come to talk to her. The town sells her eggs, and her mere presence generates a lot of tourism revenue, though visitors are required to sign a waiver. People can pay to watch her eat cows and sheep and sometimes, on special occasions, dead exotic animals obtained from Zoos. She doesn't eat pigs, (she thinks they're filthy) or goats (because they're ugly and stupid.)
Like canonical Zeta, she only speaks with the snake-like head on the end of her tail.
Psi ("Sweetpea")
Sweetpea was a problem dragon who became interested in humans the same way a child becomes fascinated watching ants go about their lives. He liked them a lot, but never quite realized that they were intelligent (or dangerous) creatures, thinking about them as a funny, interesting sort of animal. He became increasingly bold, encouraged by people leaving out food for him or playing with him, but proved to be a nuisance when he started eating dogs, cats, and chickens out of people's backyards.
Eventually, a Dragon-catcher was called in to deal with him. The particular people contacted filmed the event for a "Cops"-like reality TV show focusing on a team with a tamed dragon dealing with problem cases like his. The tamed dragon, gravely overestimating how dangerous he actually was based on his (kinda freaky) appearance, and ended up ripping off the top of his head. This WAS caught on camera. This did NOT kill him.
Watching him flop around with his face missing made some people feel a little bad. Instead of mercy killing him or letting him fend for himself, he was collected and taken to a shelter, where he was nursed back to health. However, because of the help he received and how severe his injury is, he ended up internalizing that he needs help in order to eat now, meaning he ended up healing in such a way that rendered him ACTUALLY incapable of feeding himself.
The incident left him with pretty bad amnesia, and the mass of 'worms' that sprouted from the initial wound eventually solidified into the three snakes that now make up his face. They all seem to remember different things and have different opinions, but none remembered his old name, so people just started calling him Sweetpea.
Bonus: his head before it was ripped in half
Deinocheirus in the swamp
Deinocheirus
A big duck-billed ornithomimid that lived in the wetlands of the Nemegt Formation. Once known only from a pair of enormous arms, the full skeletons of these creatures have revealed a truly bizarre form.
Been having TOO MUCH fun on Path Of Titans, had to doodle my dino's before 2025 ends.
