the whole reasoning that’s been given for awareness choosing this seeming appearance and experiences is because “as god wouldn’t you feel bored knowing and having everything instantaneously.” But my thing is, you guys constantly say awareness doesn’t feel anything or have any motives or agenda it’s just there observing so how could it have been bored in the first place to want to experience perceived lack? Isn’t boredom an emotion? also it’s confusing cause one minute it’s “the character is experiencing suffering not who you truly are” but the next it’s “well it’s not the character that wants to experience these things it’s awareness”. How can awareness come up with something to experience when it was just stated that it can’t experience anything and can only observe it? but then in the same way it’s said “it’s not awareness that wants these things it’s the character, awareness lacks nothing”, again if it’s the character that wants these and not awareness how could that be when it’s said that the character can’t even perceive wanting to experience something unless awareness is aware of it first. I also don’t get the whole if something comes up in your awareness and you want to experience it, be aware of not only wanting but having it as present current unfolding. But if everything is equal why would I need to be aware of something “else” in the first place? like you guys say all the time poverty=riches, but then say someone wants money they are then navigated to “become aware of having money and boom you have said money”… but why would I need to be aware of having money to experience it if not having money=having money. It seems that there is duality in being aware of something else. Why is there a need for the awareness of money if not having money is the same? Like why do I have to be aware of experiencing something if everything is the same?

When people say that’s the reason, please understand they are just being “poetic” on purpose, none of us will ever know the truth of reality or why anything seems to be the way they seem , it is impossible but saying awareness chose to forget itself in order to live within limits is just a dramatic guess— in the grand scheme of things whatever the reason may be hardly matters because it doesn’t affect anything. Whether we say it’s because awareness was bored or awareness was lonely (you can honestly already tell these things aren’t supposed to be taken literally) the message remains the same and that is everything is a narrative.

I don’t know where you heard “awareness wants to experience xyz” that is not at all what non duality discusses. If you ever read that anywhere then do not keep reading from that particular place. This understanding is paradoxical not contradictory, if anyone contradicts themselves then they don’t know what they are talking about. There is no “person” here wanting an experience, there only is an idea that suggests that, an imaginary idea.

Awareness is not merely just an observer, what Awareness actually is cannot be conceptualized as ‘this’ or ‘that’ . Awareness is present during imaginary experiences akin to an observer but that doesn’t mean its entire role is a witness. awareness doesn’t even have a role it is not even a thing, Awareness is the inconceivable THAT onto which experience, objects, sensations, labeling etc SEEM to occur.

You are strongly personifying awareness in this ask and that is the primary cause for your confusion, there is no action that Awareness can or cannot do because Awareness isn’t something that does things, action is a concept that only ‘exists’ because of Awareness. Awareness itself is transcendental to everything that can be described in words or feelings, Awareness IS just what IS. There is no my awareness or your awareness, there is only Awareness/ THAT/Self/Brahman these are all words used to try and describe this infinite nothing, words do not come close because words are limited to the definition they have and Awareness by default is beyond definition.

This is why I have a problem with people using tumblr to learn non duality because all the very acclaimed bloggers on here have never said any of these things, it is only those who attempt to frame non duality as a way to achieve something that will describe it this way and do you see the confusion it causes?

Riches, poverty, desires whatever it is you can define DOES NOT EXIST why would you have to do something about something that is illusory? I don’t understand where this ideology comes from, there is only THAT everything else is an imaginary appearance within Self, that is it. There’s nothing to do because there is nothing that can be done — doing something isnt doing something it is an idea that something is being done.

The issue that i have is that you said that all of those things appearing are only temporary narratives that seem to be happening in the moment, but we have any proof of it actually happening.

that is true, but wouldn’t that put us in a situation of uncertainty ? how are we so sure that those narratives (including the seeming experience) appearing are 100% untrue then ?

it seems like you are completely sure that the only truth of your being is awareness, but how can i also be sure of that if what points me to that identification would again be an interpretation of the seeming moment ?

Something being uncertain means it cannot be true, the instant you define something uncertain as true it is no longer uncertain. The complete and utter inability to determine if the narratives that appear are true means that they cannot ever be true.

If I told you to confirm externally that something you believe was true was true , could you do that? Whatever action that you would do in that process would be a narrative, whatever confirmation you would get would also be a narrative. Everything is a narrative and that is what makes everything uncertain.

If I said the narratives were false I would be doing you a disservice because I do not know if they are actually false, if I said they were false well that would just be another narrative. But see? Just like how an illusion can appear to be whatever so also can these narratives appear as whatever.

One day the story could be abundance and prosperity the next it could be confusion and sadness. Sometimes I can completely flip my thoughts if I don’t want to deal with them because they hold no truth— the fact that narratives can “change” at the slightest things mean they are not reliable.

So why hold onto something that is uncertain or unreliable? What could be gained from losing your mind over something you arent even sure is the case? Doesn’t that sound funny? To declare a predicament is yours when you truly aren’t certain it even is an actuality?

i know you dislike it when people ask questions that are concepts oriented/ trying to make sense of this using finite resources.

But i don’t know how to approach it any other way, i don’t understand how to stop identifying with this body appearing and knowing without a single doubt that it isn’t me.

and i don’t mean that in a manifestation way, to try to get some things.

Okay so, the thing is you don’t actually know any of these concerns are true, you have absolutely no idea if you’re struggling with misidentification or any of these other things you mentioned.

What is your proof? The appearance of a convincing narrative that suggests it is so is not nearly enough to indicate that this is an actual predicament. You couldnt even be identified with the “body” if you tried why? Because there is no body and there is no one to identify with it and there is no actual such thing as identification. These are all made up ideas that you seem to take as truth.

The Self remains untouched, you couldn’t even have problems— it is impossible. What you define as identification to the body is probably a strong sense of attachment or worries that indicate you take your seeming self serious but what makes that feeling/idea true?

at the time i was a little shocked to her reaction because my reaction was very accepting to this whole concept so i panicked and just kept saying stuff to make her feel better but i feel like i shouldve just told her that she was accepting that thought of wanting to die as something serious and meaningful, instead of what it is: empty

It’s as if you consciously notice that everything is appearing within the same awareness simply noticing everything without any preconceived ideas, just witnessing it as it is.

every idea/story/thought/experience is empty meaning it has no actual reality other than the Awareness of it, if ideas are popping in and out and any idea is free to express so how is that only some specific ideas seem to appear is that due to the idea of "some specific ideas appear?"

i hope it's not confusing, though it is definitely repetitive, i see that there is no person/individual to have any of these yet the experience doesn't collapse because it doesn't need to, all there is to see through such appearance is the reality of them, is empty/ not actual/ unreal

It is impossible for some ideas to “express” and others to not . First of all there is no actual expression , nothing internal is being reflected outwards , The entirety of experience are ideas, it is paramount to understand this— every single thing that seems to be happening, that seems to be is just an idea.

That’s what’s sooo difficult for me, if I can’t perceive myself then what am I ? Point blank there’s nothing but then how to « stay » consciously in nothingness ? It’s so weird because I know I’m always aware even if I think I’m not but I have to keep coming to this « nothingness » it’s not an understanding that’s always here, idk how to explain sorry 🫩
