oh I'd almost forgotten that I'm incredibly fond of the twins! my mistake, won't happen again. 💕
thanks! they're pretty fond of you too! as fond as they get of other people, anyway.
🍧👪 Basil?
🍧 SHAVED ICE -- (do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?)
The short answer: no.
The long answer: Basil and Olive had something of a tumultuous home life growing up. They weren't uncared for, exactly, but their parents had lives of their own, and were busy, and they moved often for work, which had the habit of uprooting the twins. A lot of items got left behind in storage sheds, or in hotel rooms, or in old residences, or in lockers at school. There just wasn't any real ability to keep track of it all; so at a point, it became a matter of simply...not bothering. What did they need old dolls and trinkets and picture books for? They have each other. What else could they possibly need?
So, I guess in that way, the only thing Basil has really kept through from childhood is his connection with Olive. And if they lost that, there is no word strong enough for the grief and rage that would consume him. This would result in immediate destruction of whatever caused that break or harm, and self-destruction soon following that.
👪 FAMILY -- (what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?)
As they got older and moved away, Basil lost touch with their parents. He learned at some later point that they died in an accident during a long trip, another of their moves. He wasn't overly concerned. The relationship they had with their parents was detached, and had been for a long time prior to ultimate separation.
As the relationship with their parents dwindled and deteriorated, though, his relationship with his twin, Olive, became deeper and more tangled. Basil can't imagine a life without Olive in it; no romantic partner could ever come between them, and would simply have to accept Olive as a permanent fixture in their life. It is non-negotiable, and trying to separate them in any capacity would result in a singular verbal warning from Basil, if alone, and immediate violent repercussions from Olive, if they were present, which Basil would do nothing to stop. Olive is obsessively protective over Basil, to the point of open aggression and violence, and if not calmed down by Basil, will always choose violence to deal with her problems. Basil doesn't mind that, though he does sometimes chastise Olive (fondly) for the messes they make, and the fact that he's always the one to clean them up. They live for each other, if what they do can be considered living.
