two was pushing it, but I don’t get why people feel the need to have more ? it feels to me like people are getting overexcited about the HDM series and want to make more ocs. and once one person does it, suddenly 10 are doing it.

1 dæmon -> 1 person was always an intimate and fundamental part of the whole setup, and I feel like there’s now some kind of trend towards pumping out new dæmons with new personalities and forms that don’t really seem to even correlate to anything other than an aesthetic people want for their new dæmon design.

I mean it’s cool to design dæmons, when I was a teenager I used to make up ocs so I could come up with cool dæmon forms/names/personalities for them, but it seems a bit much to walk around with a herd of dæmons for yourself :\

I personally really love the dynamic between myself and my dæmon. it’s a lot simpler and the form symbolism shines through in an all-encompassing way, and there is an intimacy between us as two halves of a whole. duality, yin-yang, all that good stuff.

maybe I just put too much stock in that kind of relationship, but I don’t really like setting a standard about having as many dæmons as you possibly can. it seems to take away a lot of the value of dæmons as their original concept. I personally think you can do everything you need with just one. and it’s a lot more memorable, too - human + dæmon + symbolic form. I just think it’s perfect as-is.
